my fitness pal just asked me reduce my calorie limit from 1400 to 1200 is that a good idea. so far i lost 12lbs.. and i thought maybe 1200 is a little to low for the weight i am now. im currently 179. should i try it? wouldnt it slow down my metabolism because my intake is lower and my body will feel like im starving myself?

It sounds low for your current weight. Have you got MFP set to lose 2lbs a week? If so, change it to 1lb a week. It's easier and more sustainable.

did you change your activity level at all? Or did it adjust on it's own? maybe you could aim for 1300 and see where that goes

  • DO NOT! cut down to 1200 Cals a day. Your body will question you when it comes to food and start putting the weight back on since it thinks it might starve. Technically, based off of the Health and Wellness Center females should not cut back any more than 1500 Cals a day. I strongly advise against it. If you find your weight becoming stagnate...then adjust your cals up and down for a week. 1800 on one day then 1500 the next. Do that for a week and it should start your weight decline again. Good Luck!

As you drop weight the mfp site does change your caloric ranges! Mine went from 1400 to 1330- in which I went with it and I am still losing!!! If you feel as though you need more calories and want to stay with the same as you were at then do it, I myself would just do some extra exercising to even it out!! Best of luck!!! Geri:smile:
