I have noitced they are alot of mfpers trying to break free from smoking I am one of those I am cutting back with deadline in mind to quit for good. Since MFP is place a were lifestyle changes often start I thought it would be a great idea to have a place were we can come together and talk about Our challenges and share tips and ways to over come.

Go onto Amazon and get Alan Carr's The Only Way to Give up Smoking Permanently - I read it a year ago and on 7 Nov will be one year off the cigarettes. That book saved my life and I even bought a copy for my Doctor! What's more you can continue to smoke while you read it but believe me it totally works and giving up smoking was so easy in the end. I didn't need NRT at all nor did I need will-power. I cannot tell you how easy it was and I had been a totally committed 30 a day smoker for 30 years!

I haven't smoked since August 28th of this year. It is rough - still crave them here and there. BUT, I have replaced that addiction with a new addiction to MFP and Zumba.

2.5 months since my last cigarette and I'm still struggling big time. I keep derailing myself with bad food choices, yet I can't seem to stop myself. It's like allmy willpower went into quitting smoking and I have no willpower left for anything else. I also completely stopped losing weight when I quit. 2.5 months of working my *kitten* off to lose for nothing. And I only have ~20 lb left to go!

I am thankfull there are others out there willing to share advice and the weight gain that comes with quiting is on of my biggest fears. I guess I will start by telling you all a little bit about my self I am 23 and I am quiting to become healthy and happy I live in Clarksville Tn which is a military town near Nashville I leave for the Navy Jan 4 2012 I also work 7 days week and begun mfp just to shed some extra pounds but I have changed my views on every thing regarding health and fitness This has become a true lifestyle change and when others noticed How healthy I eat and How much I workout I got the crazy looks for being a yucky old smoker so I really want to kick it for good for me Smoking is a self destructive behavior I turn to the most when I am feeling down or sad or stress
