How do I get into the groove of having a low carb diet??? I'm having trouble with limiting carbs but having issues afterwards.... ( I know TMI) but I need help finding a way to limit carbs in my diet.

Also how do I get my boyfriend to help me with this low carb diet as he LOVES food that is high in carbs like pasta, potatoes, bread....

Thank you in advance for your advice.

If your goal is to lose weight, you don't have to do low carb to do that. Just regulate your total calorie intake.

honestly and not to sound *****y , but you just have to make the decision not to eat those starchy foods, and stick to it. You really can't expect others to change their habits for you, not not that it wouldnt do him good to cut back in those things himself.
i am a low carber, my mother and son , eat plenty of carbs, she cooks usually not always (starting to get it through here head it is not necessary at every meal) potatos or noodles. i just simply dont eat them, we always have a good veggie, and if she does not make one i make my own, and just have meat and veggie. some times two veggies

Just cook a meal like spaghetti bolognaise but make sure not to mix the pasta in. In this way you can have the meaty sauce and your boyfriend can have both. In this way make the normal meals and you just stop eating the carbs. Other than that it will be his decision to stop eating carbs.

I started slowly...low carb dinner for example. I use e-mealz and all I did was switch my plan to low carb. My husband had to follow suit because he eats whatever I cook or he doesn't eat. (LOL)
We did have to switch back to low fat though after 3 months because I was having intestinal pain and not enough bathroom trips. My husband was also feeling ill. I still eat low carb during the day but I eat higher carbs at dinner time. So it's not for everyone and isn't neccesary for weight loss.

By not buying into the very low carb diet hype. A reduction in carbs has no metabolic advantage and it's the increase in protein within the low carb diet that facilitates a higher level of saiety and muscle preservation compared to a high carb diet, that's it.

If by going low carb is to help you control your sweet tooth and over consmption of refined carbs, then this type of diet is perfect. Personally I'm consuming about 25% carbs, and about 35% protein and this works perfectly for me and don't crave sugar at all and I've been doing this for about 5 years now.

I try to always have cooked meat available in the fridge (chicken breasts, wings, or drumsticks; pork chops; ground turkey patties, etc.) and easy frozen vegetables (something low-carb and microwavable) just in case your boyfriend's dinner can't be made low-carb to fit your needs. It's convenient to be able to warm meat and veggies for a quick meal. Sometimes I cook a few different types of meat at once to have variety for the week. Good luck :)

You can't force your boyfriend to go low carb if he doesn't want. But you can ask him to support your decision.

Limiting grain products is the easiest way to go low carb I think. Eat more vegetables than fruit. When you do eat grains avoid foods made from flour and refined (white) grains. And, of course, avoid sugar.

Lean meat, eggs, nuts, veggies, veggies, veggies. Try quinoa or wild rice when you want a grain. Depending on how low you want to go you may also be able to include minimally processed grains like brown rice, bulgar wheat, oats and barley occasionally.

You could also make yours using spaghetti squash instead of pasta.

  • There are numerous ways to make meals that dont cost extra and those that are not low carbing still enjoy.... for examply...
I make lasagna but instead of using noodle I use thin sliced deli turkey (not honey turkey as sugars are carbs)
i made this and told my husband to tell me what was different about it.... he couldnt guess (he is good that figuring it out too) I them told him it was something to do with the "noodles" he still didnt get it so I took out a peice of "noodle" cleared the sauce and toppings from it and he was shocked... he never would have know...

Make beef stew make one pot that has the meat, cauliflower, celery, radishes, greenbeans... then make a different pot that has potatoes and carrots to add to thiers....

I even have recipes for pizza and the crust has only 1 carbs and is AMAZING!
Ice cream... anytihng you want... even "BREADED chicken"
If u want help or ideas just let me know
I have lost 80lbs in the past on atkins then 3 years later I gained about 25lbs back and now I have lost 40 since july!
