Yes you need to add it. at least I've seen it on my friends posts.0

I add it in for myself everyday. Everything I've read says 300-500 calories per day extra. And you want to make sure you get all those calories...and probably any exercise cals too. Great work making it to the 8 month mark with your kiddo! It takes dedication to get there.0

Hi, I am breastfeeding my little 5 month old boy and yes everyday I add exculsive breastfeeding which -500 calories. So I am sure you should add it everyday because you are using up calories making that milk, but I am not sure if you are feeding your baby some solid food if that counts as exculsive breast feeding?
Just a few days ago I started giving my boy a few tsp of carrot puree as he is 6 months next week and is showing a lot of interest in eating solid food, so I am not quite sure if that means I am still exculsively breastfeeding. He still is getting the same amount of breast feeds, so I guess he is taking the same amount of milk, but it is so hard to tell.
I am still pretty new to this site so still finding my way around but I hope that is of some help.0 -
Hey congratulation u still breastfeeding your 8 months old baby.
Mine is also 8 months and i still breastfeed her at least 5 times a day. and no i do not include the extra calories because after i eat my daily calories am always full!
but after exercise i am aways more hungrey which is normal so i eat more as well.
and as for my lil girl she still has loads of milk ....as you can see yourself on her smile :-)0 -
how do I add it? I am breastfeeding two here. I have mine set at half a pound a week as I dont want to starve,. oh and your diet does not effect your milk its more for you the cals to keep up as it burns more energy in you.0

Thnk you i will add it from now on, mfp database suggests 300 cals for breastfeeding a baby aged 6-12 months.
Thanks0 -
My baby is 9.5 months old and I allow an extra 300 calories right now, this is new the past couple of weeks, up until now I was adding 600 calories. However, she is eating a ton of solids now so I feel like it's safe, watching to make sure though!
What do you ladies mean though by adding it to your diary?0 -
cool I worked it out go to diary and type in breastfeeding and you get a few! I am tandem feeding so took 600 cals off me. Happy days! though I hope I dont end up eating more now.0

I'm still nursing my 10 month old and add my 300 cals. Last month I cut down a little and noticed a drop in my milk supply so I felt it was better to stay at 1500-1700 cals per day range.0
