Hello friends-
I decided recently to stop logging some of my exercise because I feel like the number of calories I "get back" is WAY too many for my effort. I walk my dog, go back and forth from the train, and am on foot anywhere I want to go during the week.
I still log what I do at the gym.
Has anyone else had an experience similar to this? Am I making a mistake?

I think you're good. Walking to/from the train is an every day thing; I assume you've been doing it for a while, before you started watching calories. That and walking your dog can be included in your set-up "lifestyle". So you're certainly not sedentary -- make sure it's set up to "active" or whatever you feel describes your lifestyle without the gym.
Then, yes, add in your workouts separately.
I think people get into trouble when they count daily living activities as exercise.

I only count what I do at the gym as exercise

I've recently invested in a HRM and only really log when I wear it, otherwise I've found that MFP is not very accurate on it's calorie burn and is usually a lot higher than what I normally burn. I can't wear it in the water so for swimming, I log leisurely rather than moderate because I'd rather underestimate than overestimate. Sometimes if I walk pretty far without it, I'll log about half of it at a slower pace than I was going haha. I think you'll be fine.0 -
