that has a problem with this statement made by a mode in explanation for closing down a thread.......

Dear Posters,

The staff of MyFitnessPal is actively reviewing our stance on topics that recommend or promote dieting methods that run counter to our site's own weight-loss recommendations.

In the meantime, please make sure to refrain from attacking or insulting other users.

There is so much about this that bothers me.

for one thing i would like to see the medical licences of the staff

why make the site as customizable as it is, i you can only diet their way?

how does anyone else feel about this.

Pretty sure the site can recommend and support any fitness program they choose. Considering the fact that the fitness portion of MFP is actually quite balanced and across-the-board healthy, I'd say it's probably, in most cases, the right way to do it.

If you don't want to count calories and exercise regularly, there are plenty of other websites to frequent.

Free site. Their rules. You don't like it? I'm sure there are other free sites out there...although they probably suck.

I, for one, report HCG posts for promoting disordered eating. Quite a few of us here have a disordered eating history and the posts are triggers, also, 500 cals a day just can't be good for a person, I mean, when I was eating that little I was diagnosed with anorexia and sent to a doc...

hcg is supported and perscribe by many doctors. there for it is a legitimate treatment for obesity , not one i would do.

Not at all. I used "you" in the general "whomever may not want to count calories".. However, I do have to wonder why it would bother you that MFP promotes their fitness methods above others if you're using it too.

A doctor prescribing HCG is just a sign that you need a new doctor. Those doctors usually get some sort of monetary incentive for pushing that crap.

Really? You're going with "doctors say it's okay" as your HCG defense?

The threads were locked because of some very passionate disagreements - not because of the subject matter. I think MFP is reviewing their policy regarding some of the other methods because of the heated discussions that take place.

perhaps from thier perspective, they feel that if something is too radical or dangerous, they do not wish to be held liable for someone else doing something that indangers themselves that they saw on thier website. Just fighting a lawsuit, even if you are not at falt is seriously expensive. and when the site is free to people the only revenue you are getting is the ads. So while they may make money after paying staff and uptime costs, salaries and all that .. I don't think they budget for fighting off unessecary lawsuits.
    ...
    just saying...

Google FDA + HCG, there are a ton of hits saying it's not legit.
