Hello friends! I wanted to get a group of people together who have had similar experiences with bursitis.

I have chronic hip bursitis and have had a lot of trouble throughout my weight loss process.

With exercise, chiropractic help, supplements, etc, I have been able to lower the degree of chronic pain.

Does anyone else have any kind of bursitis? Hip? Shoulder? Knee? Add me as a friend!

We can get through it together! :flowerforyou:

I don't know if that's what I have or not but I smashed my knee off a cement step a few years ago and tore all the ligaments and since then my knee cap doesn't sit in the socket properly so I get bone rubbing on bone causing bumps until the knee goes back in place. I also broke my neck in 2005 and had a lot of pain with it whenever it rained. Since working out that has now stopped. My siatica (sp) and scoliosis pain are also becoming less frequent
  • I'm not sure if either of you have bursitis. But feel free to add me as a friend if you want.

I can't imagine what it would be like to be able to exercise without the struggle of a physical ailment. I'm not complaining, but sometimes I just wish I had normal people soreness and pain instead of really scary pain. Learning to work through it though!

For the person with hip pain that posted before me, here is what bursitis is:

Between most of your joints, you have a little sac called a bursa. Imagine a wet, deflated balloon. Sometime, if your body isn't used to a certain motion, or if you are out of alignment somehow, that bursa gets inflamed and filled with fluid. This causes extreme pain. (Well I think it's extreme but I have a pretty low pain threshold.) If you think you have bursitis, go to a doctor! They will prescribe you an anti inflammatory and pain killers.
  • I have bursitis in the shoulder and knee.

Sungurl23- Bursitis is an inflamation of the bursa, a small liquid-filled sack that helps to cushion your joints. It's really painful.

The best way that I can describe it is...very strong pain, kind of like a cross between sharp/stabbing and dull/achy. It's like sharp/achy, you know what I mean? I control mine with Aleve and try to stick to low-impact exercises.

I've been told since I was 25 that I have bursitis in my left hip. It's just been something I've lived with but the past month has been miserable!

I went and got an injection from the Dr. but it has not helped. I rub Bio-Freeze into the area before I go to bed. I've been going to the Chiropractor. It's really being a nuisance. When I wake up in the morning I feel good so I try to walk or do a few exercises. I then pay for it for the next 3 days by not being able to walk without "weebling" from side to side - It frigin HURTS! And I swore I would never complain about my "minor" aches and pains after I lost my sister to cancer - but here I am whining. . .

I am allergic to anti-inflammatory type meds, asprin, nsaids, etc. So I am very limited as to what I can take for pain. Extra-Strength Tylenol is pretty much it so I try not to take it any more often than I have to so I don't become resistant to it!

Any and All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I've had bursitis in both hips for about a year. I got it from exercising way to hard for my weight. I'm a big beautiful girl! I've been on anti inflammatories and pain pills this whole time. Well last week I walked a 1/2 mile one day and it flared up. The next day I was stupid and walked a mile. It tore me up. So on Monday I went in and had the dreaded steroid shot in my left hip. Next Monday they're doing the right one. I'm gonna try walking today to see how left one feels. Bursitis sucks!
  • Hi all.
Only joined this today as I wanted to share my bursitis story with you.
I am a very sporty 40 year old male from the UK who developed Greater Trochanter (hip) bursitis about 2 years ago and since then I have had setback after setback. Initially I was told to rest. 6 months later no chance.
Anti-inflamatories worked initially, but only temp measure.

I then tried a number of physio/chiropracters, but neither of them were able to get to the bottom of it.
Consultants passed me to other consultants and I ended up on morphine to help with the pain.
Wasnt able to sleep in a bed for about 6 months. Always had to sleep upright in a chair. Horrible.

Then I eventually got someone to give me a steroid injection, which eased the pain within a day.
That lasted about 6 months although I could tell the pain was still there, just under the surface. I had a further 3 injections and more physio, but the injections got less and less of an impact.

So I am now trying something called Shock-Wave Therapy which involves having powerful electric shocks sent straight to the area of pain. I have had one so far and I am led to believe there is a 75% chance of the inflamation going for good after 3 sessions.

I felt quite a lot better after the first one so am hopeful of a recovery soon.
I will post more details when I have the other 2 injections, should anyone care to read about them. :-)
    Cheers all
    David
