Hi All

I have recently invested in a juicer and absolutely love it. I have used it religiously every day for a month and will never go back to carton juice!

Anyway, reading up on portions of fruit juice counting towards your 5 a day, it says it`s a maximum of 1 no matter how much you drink. Now does this still apply when drinking homemade juice with 3 fruits in?? For example this morning`s juice had 1 orange, 1 apple and 1 pear in.......so I`d assumed once juiced that was prob 2 of my 5 a day......but is it actually only 1???

At the end of the day it doesn`t really matter as I pack in at least 6 portions of fruit and veg a day regardless but I`m just interested to know the answer!!

Thanks Guys, J x

Juice loses some of the advantages of fresh fruit (some of the vitamins and most of the fiber). Imho, it's always better to have a piece of fruit than a glass of juice (even home juiced). Juice are only interesting for people who wouldn't eat any fruit if they didn't have the juice. And even then, you shouldn't drink more than 1 maybe 2 glasses a day because of the sugar content.

Is that true if it's not strained? I would have thought that the fibre remains, even if the fruit's been pulverised.
