Temptations at work

Hello, I just REALLY have to vent about something that not a lot of people around me seem to relate to. I am in the military, and in my particular job, I am mostly working 12-hour night shifts. Alone. With a SNACK BAR in my line of sight. If that isn't a test of my will, then I don't know what is!
Sometimes I am able to work day shifts, which I find to be a lot easier because it is busier and I have other people working in the office with me. But at times like right now, I can think of nothing but those chips and candy bars that are sitting 10 feet away! You would THINK that in a military shop, there wouldn't be junk food around because we are required to be fit! What do I do???

Tell me about it - the vending machine is right next to my desk. But I cue up some temptations on my ipod and rock out to forget.0 -
I'm in the military as well and unless you have a group of folks ask for healthier options then those cany bars and chips are there to stay. We were able to get our shop to stock ours with fruit cups...nuts...yogurt...and things like that but the staples of candy and cookies never went a way. The bottom line is...they will stock what will sell and folks just aren't buying too many fruit cups in my shop. lol
I built my own snack bar in a desk drawer with healthy snacks and eventually I stopped using the snack bar all together. It sucks but at the end of the day you will have to use your will power to resist. Think about how you overcame one of your toughest moments....and dig deep and say..."Screw you Snickers!" and grab a some carrott sticks.0 -
I am an office drone and daily there is food in my meetings or leftover meeting food. Cookies, pastries, cakes, muffins, sandwiches, doughnuts, etc. It all comes down to will power!0

I am a teacher and I have to physically avoid the staffroom at break time as people are always randomly bringing in cakes and treats when it's their birthday or anything remotely celebratory!
Sometimes the treats find ME though like today when a food teacher practically shoved a homemade flapjack into my face. Obviously I fled kicking and screaming (not).0
