i am fine with most household chores, but i hate matching and folding socks. hate it! my solutions is to keep a laundry basket in the corner of the laundry room and all socks go in there to be matched by the person needing socks. :) it seems to work well for us.

what is a shortcut you take during chores?

  • This isn't something I did but it seemed to have worked for a friend of mine!!! When he used to live with me ( He was gay so romance wasn't an issue lol) he would safety pin his sock together before he threw them in the wash that way they were all together before, during , and after a wash.

That's ingenious. I wonder if the safety pin would harm the washer or it might rust? The sock monster is constantly stealing my socks!

that is a clever idea! i wonder if i could get my boys to start doing that before they threw their socks in the dirty clothes hamper?

My husband's sock drawer was always a mess. I threw out all of his socks, bought several packages of the same brand of white, brown and black socks, and toss them all in his sock drawer. Any two black, white or brown socks will always match.

I got so fed up with losing socks that I decided to buy a lingerie bag and put all socks in there before throwing them in the washing machine. I painstakingly matched EVERY SINGLE SOCK in that bag. Guess what happened? It came out of the wash with FIVE matchless socks!!! Really?! Really?! Who or what is eating the damn socks?!

My 9 year old has to pin her socks together, or I wont wash them. We havent had any rust issues yet.
My year olds socks get put in a laudry bag with a zipper and get washed that way.

I do the lingerie bag thing too. It works great for keeping kid's socks from getting lost or missed in the bottom of the washer.
