Goal: Daily Caloric goal and Net

This may sound like a silly question, but I want to make sure I'm using the information correctly. If my daily caloric goal is 1400 per day then I should target my net goal to be the same right??? (food - excercise). So If i eat 1700 calories and burn 300 exercising I've met my caloric goal for the day?

I posted a similar ? a few days ago and didnt get a response  My daily goal is 1300 and i eat close to that or over everyday but burn 500(2 JM dvds) so my NET at the end of most days is 800 sometimes a little over 1000 if i only do 1 dvd..guess im doing it wrong!0

My daily caoloric goal is 1400, but I can burn 500-700 with P90x and a heart monitor my biggest concern is dropping below 1200 net and have my body go into a survival mode.....at least that's what I've been reading.0

As a male, your magic number is actually 1500 and not 1200. Don't ask me why males are luckier because I don't know.0

I appreciate the info.0

1400 is pretty damn low for a guy. I'm a 30-year-old lady and I never went below 1750 net.0

I've only started tracking this week, so it may be too early to tell where my number should be. Currently at 214 and goal weight is 185. It may be trial and error at this point......hopefully not too much error.0 -

You got the math right, but your 2lb a week goal is probably too ambitious for someone who only wants to lose 30 lbs. 1lb a week is going to be a far better choice (1900 calories a day).0
