Runner, best way to come back from pulled muscle

Hey everyone,
I pulled my Calf muscle, playing Soccer, but I want to come back slowly without re-injuring it. For Soccer I plan on playing Goalie and defense with little movement. Normally I play midfielder/forward.
I've been constantly stretching it, massaging it, and hot/cold treatments., I also will be wearing a compression sleeve on my leg.
Any stretches, toning exercises to help along the progress? beside taking it slow?
I find that I can do the elliptical with no strain, which to me is odd, but hey if it keeps me active...why not?
any other ideas?
