I see a few people in my gym wearing sweat shirts when working out, some even with knit caps on... does this really increase the effectiveness of the workout?

    keeps your body heat from escaping..makes ya sweat more

    I see this too. And I understand that it makes you sweat more - but how effective is that really? To me, I doubt it is really worth being SO HOT for.

    I suppose it can help you lose water weight because you sweat more but personally, I'd rather stay relatively cool so I can keep my energy up and get a better workout in.

    It's a mental thing..You sweat more, but you have to drink more water to rehydrate. Seen just as much sweat with short sleeves.

    Exactly. I wear a tank top and I still sweat all the way through.
