okay, so i am being chastized by my family for not wanting to do the whole traditional holiday meal thing...thanksgiving and christmas...so i am trying to compromise by preparing traditional foods with untraditional healthy cooking/baking techniques/ingedients. wanna help??? if you have any recipes that would fall into this catagory please send my way, post on here or message me...the traditional foods i usually prepare are as follows:
turkey,
ham,
baked mac and cheese,
mashed potatoes,
sweet potato casserole,
green beans,
corn,
gravy,
dinner rolls,
deviled eggs,
chocolate pie,
pumpkin pie,
pumpkin roll with cream cheese filling,
chocolate cake,
jello salad...
any ideas? any tried and true recipes you'd like to share?
THANKS A BUNCH!!!

I just let myself enjoy the holidays. Lifing life and loving it. Does your family want the traditional recipe or are they okay with a modified version? That is important to know before you switch things up

For mashed pototes you could use califlower that is steamed/cooked really soft and mash it like a regular cooked potatoe. Add spices as you like.

Everything on your list would be easily modified. Just use fat-free or sugar-free items when it comes to sweeter sides. As far as the turkey you can use I Can't Believe It's Not Butter or a Heart Smart butter. Also to make any type of dough try to use Heart Smart Bisquick and oats. Skinnytaste.com has amazing holiday recipes that are low cal and low fat. :) Good luck!

This is what I do for devilled eggs:

    Ingredients:

    6 eggs

Extra virgin olive oil or flax or hemp

    Dijon mustard

    Celtic Sea Salt and pepper

    Fresh dill

    Paprika

    Directions

    1. Hard boil the eggs

    2. Cut each egg in half and place all the yolks into a separate bowl.

    3. Add 1-2 TBSPs of oil and a 1 tsp of Dijon mustard and mix.

    4. Add more olive oil and/or Dijon mustard based on taste (I sometimes throw in some greek yogurt too)

    5. Add Paprika, salt and pepper to taste.

    6. Mix in 1 TBSP of fresh dill (or more if you’d like).

I actually do a cauliflower/sweet potato mix for my mashed sweet potatoes. No one knows the difference.

Is there a way to add someone else's recipe to your own recipe file?
