swimming with flippers or not?

I tried swimming with flippers last night and really liked it. I like the feeling of going faster through the water. My question is, does it make a difference, calories burned wise, to use flippers or not? (of course talking by time swimming not distance, since I obviously go faster)

    rotfl.
I doubt it, can't see how it would, or at least be worth making a difference in cals burned on your journal.

I have no facts to back me up on this, but I would think flippers will decrease the calorie burn. The harder your muscles have to work to propel you through the water is where the calorie burn comes from. Flippers makes it too easy, thus your muscles don't work as hard.

It decreases the burn, but shifts the focus from your arms dragging you through the water, to your legs propelling you. You work the muscles differently. And this doesn't mean you can't burn as many calories, you just need to work harder to do it as you will propel through the water much more easily.

I personally love swimming with flippers because it makes my upper legs do all the work, and the burn afterwards is slow and warm, like treacle
