Scedule and Routine

Ok, I'm trying to be more disciplined by making sure everything is scheduled properly ex. eating, workout, kid time. is it better to eat before or after you work out? Is that why calories get added to your journal after you work out? Is it really not safe to eat before bed? and how important is it to stick to the schedule, because I've been told that the schedule helps your mind stick to it, but mixing up the routine makes your body respond more. any advice

wow that's a lot of questions - most of which are the kind of thing you need to work out for yourself because everyone is different. For example, if you are the kind of person to snack between meals, it might be better to plan smaller meals throughout the day.
Either way, being more organised and having some kind of plan, whatever it may be, definitely will help - this site is all about being accountable and in control!0 -
Eating late at night isn't bad by itself. It wont make you store fat by itself.
It got a bad reputation purely because people were eating their daily calorie allowance throughout the day, AND THEN eating more late at night. They wrongly blamed it on the late night eating, when it was simply a case of they consumed too many calories.
Timing of meals is another thing that doesn't make any difference from a biological standpoint. It wont speed up your metabolism to eat less, more often. However, some people find that it makes their cravings less, and helps them maintain their calorie deficit, which is the goal in the end.0 -
it is alot of questions. I have a problem with never being able to ask one. The schedule is important for the kids. I want them to get into the habbit. I try to work out schedule snacks and what not inbetween.0

1) Eating before or after a workout just depends on you, and what works best for you. Generally,I have found that it's best to not eat immediately before a workout (30 min. or so) or I either feel too sluggish, or too sick to continue.
2) Calories get added in because when you set up your account, MFP calculates what you need to eat to lose weight based on your current daily activity level. When you log a workout, it's showing a greater deficit than the one already pre-determined for you. There are various opinions on whether or not you should eat these calories back- so I won't tell you that you should or should not. I will say that MFP recommends that you do (obviously, or they wouldn't add them in!) and that I personally find that I have the best results if I eat the majority of my exercise calories back (give or take 50 or so)
3) I don't know why people feel it is somehow dangerous or unsafe to eat before bed. Nothing terrible has ever happened to me or anyone I know if they grab a snack before they go to sleep.
4) For me, a schedule works best- but at the same time, I change up my routine frequently. My husband tells me I have exercise ADHD- if I do the same thing for more than a week I am bored! My routine will vary constantly, but my schedule doesn't. I have a plan A and plan B
Plan A is always to workout before work. Depending on how early I get up, what I do will change from day to day
Plan B is to workout before dinner, if I skip my morning workout for any reason. Again, the actual workout just depends on time and my mood.0 -
that was so informative. I'm greatly appreciative0
