Losing too much?

Okay, so I started January 1, officially. So far I have lost 9.5 pounds (ticker rounds up for some reason?). I'm just starting to notice the weight loss, my pants are looser, etc. I am eating within my calories (some days I'm over some days I'm a bit under but its always fairly close). I'm exercising a decent amount (an hour of laps at the pool once a week + 2-3 hours of walking on the weekends)...

I am having surgery in a week and at the pre-admin & seeing my dr. both were surprised and worried at how much I have lost so far. I mean I started with 92 pounds to lose, so 9.5 really isn't that bad, plus don't you lose the most weight in the first few weeks and then kind of plateau a bit?

I am seeing a nurtitionist in a week or so but I wouldn't mind a few opinions to help me feel better! I don't want to muck up all this progress so far!

How much is everybody else losing and at what rate?

From the responses I got, it's okay, it won't keep on like this, it is fast at the beginning bc your body is kind of shocked-

    Congratulations!!

Higher losses at first are normal especially when you have more to lose like us, and I am not sure why your doctor is concerned. I average 5-10 pounds the first week any time I start a new diet. Then it tapers off. I would only be concerned if you continue to lose this fast then you might want to up your calories a bit like a couple hundred, you can do that just by changing your lifestyle choice in settings. Good luck with your surgery I hope all goes well!:flowerforyou:

The reason your doctors might be concerned right now is for the anesthesia. This amount that is appropriate is determined by your height weight sex etc, because you are going in a week they may want you to ease up so they can plan your surgery.

you are losing at a great rate, 2lbs a week pretty much, so you are aggressive but not out of line. You should be proud of what you have accomplished so far, get your surgery and get back to it as soon as you are ok'd by the doc!

    Good luck :flowerforyou:
