Hey to all beautiful people in MFP, I need serious for my body type. My upper body is fat, but my lower body has more serious problem. I have a bigger butt and thighs than any other Asians and it doesn't feel good at all. Because I'm living in a hot and humid country, everybody is wearing shorts and short skirts. Because of my stupid fat butt and thighs, I haven't wear any shorts and short skirts for years. *sobs* I am working on losing weight, but I also researched that it's very difficult for us (pear-shaped body) to lose the weight. I am so tired of having this pairs of stupid fat thighs and they look horrendous on jeans! :'(

Any help or tips? :(

I am pear shaped also - don't hate it! That just means you're more curvy, and under that fat is a voluptuous female body! My advice to you is just try to do a lot of cardio to burn off the fat - do lower body strengthening exercises like squats, lunges, jumping jacks, etc. to tone the muscles. I know how you feel though, I used to have the same problem with jeans/shorts/short skirts and it was not fun especially during the summer. It's harder to find nice fitting jeans and stuff, even after I've lost so much weight/inches, but trust me - curvy girls look way better in tight clothes. :) Just be patient, you will tone up and lose the extra fat as long as you stick to your meal plans and exercise! Best wishes <3

I forgot to mention - stress will cause you to retain fat/water in your abdomen, thighs, and butt. Some women just naturally have the disadvantage of storing more fat in that area anyway - so you could try cutting down on your sugar intake and fat more if you haven't already. Try de-stressing techniques that work for you too at the end of the day, calming techniques throughout the day too if you can. Anything to help you unwind and relax your body and mind! I hope this helps!

The best tip I can give:

    KEEP GOING.

I felt certain that my bum/thighs were never going to get smaller. But I kept going. Kept running. Kept eating at a deficit. Now my thighs are about 24inches around each one, which is only a bit smaller than when I started (26.5) but those 2.5 inches on each thigh make a BIG difference to me.

    Keep going :)

I'm considered pear shaped or "Coke bottle" if you will. LOL And I love my body type. The concept of accepting yourself was a hard concept for me to understand, but once I finally got it I felt better. You should love yourself, pear shaped and all. I have one particular Asian friend who is also curvy and pear shaped and she loves her body! Who DOESN'T want to have a butt?? :) You can work on total weight loss and it will thin out some. I know that my current weight has made my hips, thighs and butt grow to be larger than they usually are, BUTTTTTTTTT when I started working out (running, jogging, walking) I started losing some of the excess fat from there. But if you are naturally curvy you have to understand that you are curvy, which doesn't mean you can't wear skirts or shorts, (which I don't either, but I have a lot more weight to lose) it just might take you a little longer to feel comfortable. I have accepted that my thighs and butt are never going to be skinnnnny and I'll always have a butt & I love that. :)

Hooray for the pear shaped girls. I am one. I know the pic is deceiving, I balanced the booty with some new boobies. Even if I was ninety pounds I'd have a booty. Alll I can say is....cardio cardio and squats and tone the muscle and realize, your never gonna be a skinny butt girl. Who cares though? Having a butt is awesome, and looks really good in a pair of jeans too!

I'm pear-shaped too. My advice is to do both cardio and strength training with an emphasis on lower body exercises. When I've lost weight previously, it was due more to changes in eating habits rather than purposeful exercise, and it seemed like I still retained the same basic shape (large hips and thighs), just on an overall smaller scale. Like I had just been shrunk a bit, if that makes sense - I guess it was like the "skinny fat" concept. Unfortunately I put the weight back on when I wasn't paying attention to what I was eating and didn't know how much I should be aiming for in order to lose the weight (before finding MFP). This time I'm incorporating exercise to hopefully build some muscle and, once I lose more of the excess fat, have a more toned shape.
