Hey, I'm Mariel, and i'm only 19 years old. Pretty much my entire life i have been overweight, so i don't know what being skinny feels like. To be quite honest, i've never really tried. This is my first real attempt, and i WILL succeed!! I've never shared my weight with anyone other than a doctor, and to be honest, i didn't even put my correct weight when i got my drivers license. I would have to say that i've always been self conscious, but it's time to be honest with myself and the world. Currently i weight about 280 pounds, thats a lot!! Especially for my height, because i am only 5'3". Another realization that i have come across, is that if i ever want to be happy, and meet a nice guy, and succeed in my career, i have to be thinner. I'm not looking for super skinny, but i would like to walk into any store and wear almost anything that they have to offer. I'm tired of shopping in the plus size section. I'm tired of feeling like i don't fit in when i walk in to an American Eagle, or Abercrombie and Fitch. I want to go to a theme park and not worry about if my butt is going to fit in the seat, or get into someone's car and worry about that dreadful clicking noise that the seatbelt makes when you've pulled it out to far. I'VE HAD ENOUGH! I have to change, not for anyone else, but for ME!!!!! It's time to start over. I'm ready to meet the real me, and i'm ready to show the world the real me, because the real me is not what the 280 pound body that I inhabit exhibits. I'm starting over! Hey, I'm Mariel, and I'm going to lose weight!

Your going to do great. I'm only a year older than you and I've never been thin ever. There are a lot of emotionally taxing things that can be thrown at you when your overweight and again I know how hard it can be, but use those as reminders when things get a little tough. It will only make you stronger. I actually had never even known my weight until I started having health troubles and was weighed during a physical. When I saw the number I was shocked. Your not alone :(
I have always thought that a lot of my life was wasted by being heavy but someone on this site had told me "good for you for doing something about it when your still young" and it hit me, the time it takes to make a few improvements and lifestyle changes and even the time it takes to lose the weight is not that long compared to your whole life especially for someone young like you or anyone for that matter!

    You can do it. :)

I lied when I got my ID card and said I weighed 160 lbs when I was really 220, now I weigh less than that. Maybe that could be a goal?
