Power 90 - still a good work out or not.

I'm tipping the sclaes at 280 or so and have lifted free weights for years....after a layoff I went from 20+ pushups to now I can hardly do a pushup....is that even possible or normal.. :ohwell:

I am thinking some cardio and fat loss is what I need...work on the muscle later.... Is p90 an option...I can't do one pull up :explode: so the P90x seems too much.

Anyone have another good structured workout? I am in new territory with the high intensity workouts. Would like to retain some muscle mass...but what good is benching 300+ pounds if that barely gets you a push up!

I have the P90 and the 30 Day Shred. I do both and I LOVE both.

I'm not anywhere close to ready for the P90X though. I'm also a girl and building muscle mass isn't my first priority (it is a priority, but definately not the first) so maybe there are some gentlemen or buff ladies on the site who could offer better suggestions? :flowerforyou:

Yep, I think P90 would be a great one for you! If you can't do full pushups, you can modify and there is cardio in there too. As Tony Horton says... just do your best and forget the rest!

And P90X is not just for *buff* people. Although if you want to get there, it's the program to use! I love it!

Don't worry about building muscle. It wouldn't happen anyway--you need extra calories to build muscle mass, and you don't have enough to even maintain your current weight. You can build strength though, because strength and size are two separate qualities.

You don't have to do everything a video shows. Always adapt the movements so that you can do a reasonable number of whatever they're asking with good form.
