how to figure times out

I have a polar hrm. I use it at the gym, which I just joined. I usually do my cardio on a cybex machine and then work on the leg machines one day and the arm machines the next. I leave my hrm on through out the routine. When I go to log on mfp, I dont really know how many calories were burned during cardio vs during strenght training. How do I log this? I have been putting the calorie number and time from the cybex machine as cardio and then any time/calories leftover as those burned during strength training. Is this the correct way? Does it matter? Hope this makes sense.
