I first "felt" the same sort of irritation/pain(it does hurt at times)in my left, big toe. It feels almost like a burning sensation and is just sort of in a straight line/section on top of my toe. It only feels bad once in awhile. Numbness also. Now..........it is happening in my left knee
I am concerned to say the least. Edie and I walk and I take a day off. Yesterday I probably wouldn't have but I was having some problems and wanted to rest my bones. I noticed my knee hurting a lot(same burning on left side of knee and numbness covering an area maybe 2 in by 2. Maybe a little less.
Has anyone felt this in their bod before and what did you do about it?? Or maybe someone knows of someone it happened to? I've NEVER had these things before. The toe thing started way before I started walking by the way?
Thanks all, in advance, denise
PS the burning sensation feels like the skin but is actually just under, not deep inside the leg and toe?? Also the numbness, close to surface in other words?

My husband has gout and I just read this to him. He says it sounds like gout. Gout can flare up when you are losing weight.
Drink lots of water, eat cherries or drink cherry juice, cut down on red meats or food with purines (google this)
My husband has gone to a Chinese doctor who gave him herbs to strengthen his kidneys and these work wonderfully.
You may want to start by seeing your doctor for a proper diagnosis.0 -
Ok, I will look it up, God bless you darlin for replying. I can try those remedies easy. I will also see a doc if it persists. Thank you to you and hubby for helping me:) denise:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: Is he recovering from his gout by the way and able to still workout??:ohwell:My husband has gout and I just read this to him. He works out nearly every day and he is on MFP as well. Gout is something you don't get over you just control with proper diet, and water. He has learned to read his body and the Chhinese herbs are great.
The family doctor put him on pills to maintain but neither of us are big pill takers, we prefer the alternative healing ways.0 -
:flowerforyou: If you go to discoveryhealth.com there are some great little vids on the body and how it works.
When my knee started acting up I just could not go to the doctor again ( I have other injs I am treating) So I looked up the mecanics of my knee.
I found a lot of the muscles attach at the knee, as do all the ligs and tendons that pull your knee up and down. As with anypart of our body, if we use it over and over in the SAME fashion (i.e. walking) the inserted parts get irritated and cause neuropathy to the skin(that burning sensation)
What I am doing is iceing it down at night. And I have changed up my workout routine.
OH I almost forgot!!
How old are your sneakers???? My pediatrist said when you walk/jog every day you need to replace them quite often.
Hope this helps!!0 -
thank so much, can't wait to take a look at that link. I am into discovering anything and everything I can do without having to visit a doc.

I have to agree with the posssiblity of gout. My dad complained of similar issues. Once he found out what food he should avoid or eat little of and lost a lot of weight and got a great daily exercise routine down he hasn't had many flare ups.
go check with your doc, regardless the sensation is not normal and at least finding out what the problem is will allow you to start working on solutions!
Good luck :flowerforyou:0
