My Food Diary so far
sms1986
I've been using this for almost a week now, and so I wanted to know how I've been doing so far. I'm currently trying to lose a pound a week (I'm 216lbs and 5 foot 9 and a half at the moment). My BMR is around 1955 calories.

You look like your doing great. In a week you have lost 2 pounds! You may not continue to lose weight at that rate all the time but keep at it and you will see results!

Hi and welcome!
I'm no expert but i would try and add more veggies to your day - maybe replace the calories you are using up on orange juice (try to remember not to drink your calories!) with things like more veggies. 5-6 servings of fruit and veggies will fill you up and give you lots of vitamins and nutrients.
i forgot to check your water intake - try for 2-3 litres a day.
you'll have to brace yourself for a bunch of different advice though. different things work for different people. Some will tell you don't eat fruit! Others stop eating meat! nothing pre-packaged! only eat eggs at midnight if its a full moon and you are standing on your left leg! Just really, give your body good fuel, try and eat just under your calories everyday (i shoot for 150 less to make up for any miscalculation, forgetting bite, lick or nibble), move your body as often as you can and you'll do just fine!
good luck!

Hiya and welcome. Well the most important thing as you start your journey is keeping in your calorie limit and logging everything, and on that count you are doing extremely well.
The next 2 steps you might want to look at go hand in hand, water and sodium. They are the 2 things that can stop the loss short. I notice you drink a lot of fruit juice. A good place to start is to dilute the fruit juice - so for 1 glass substitute 1/4 water and work your way up so you drink less juice than water.
Sodium is high on a few days, and this means you'll retain water. It's impossible to avoid bad sodium days (especially on Fry-up days:) BUT you're tracking it which is brilliant.
I'd say for 1 week, you've done incredibly well. Note your numbers now, and learn which foods push you over your limit and try and compare that to the gratification you get from eating that particular food.

I'd double check the nutrients shown for your seafood sticks - they're one of my favourite snacks too, but I usually only eat 4 at a time, and I reckon that's 50 cals, and 1g protein per stick.

Ill put my 2 cents in: I would start tracking your sugar as you are drinking a lot of orange juice which is full of natural sugar. It may hinder your weight loss some. Also be sure you are adding the sodium to your items as I notice that a lot of your items only have 1 sodium. Not much out there with only 1 sodium... even veggies have more than that.
You will find what works best for you as you go along. if one thing doesnt seem to work then try something else. Everyone is different and no one way is perfect for everyone.
Keep all these suggestions people are making handy and refer back to them when you get stuck in your weight loss.
Good luck! remember that the weight didnt go on in a day so dont expect it to come off that way either!
