"Whey to Go" is reasonably priced, and tasty!0

They hellp out a lot after hard resistance training. You must drink within an hour after that. Whatever you do, buy whey protein online. Stores rip you off. Either try muscleandstrength.com (the one i buy from) or bodybuilding.com0

YES! I love having a protein shake. Protein is essential in weight loss so you don't lose muscle. If you want a meal replacement, put some ground oatmeal in there for some carb. I like Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard Natural Whey in Natural Chocolate. (http://www.amazon.com/Optimum-Nutrition-Standard-Natural-Chocolate/dp/B000GIQT06/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1319376682&sr=8-1) They process the lactose out, which is great. I'm not lactose intolerant but previous protein mixed I tried didn't settle well. I love this one!! I just mix it with water to keep the calories down but it's a great way to get your protein fast!!0

I'm curious too. I don't eat a lot of red meat and everyone has been suggesting that I add a protein shake in the morning. Do I have it in conjunction with a meal (and I assume I can mix it with water as milk and I don't get along too well)? Are there a lot of calories that I'm going to be commiting to a shake?0

I mix mine in to smoothies and yes they are meal replacements I use half a serving (one scoop ) after a workout.. It gives your muscles the fuel they need to rebuild after a workout, and helps you to feel full longer.0 -
thanks guys but i really want to know if they work?0

It depends on what your definition of "work" is. Protein powder is a powdered form of protein. In terms of overall nutrition, whey helps you reach your daily total for protein.
It is not a magic formula that will make you muscular.0 -
The protein will work as a a meal replacement, but I tend to eat a little salad along with it with some tea. (Unless taken in the morning, then I take a carb with it)
Also, if you are considering taking a protein shake, look at your protein consumption amounts to see if you necessarily need the extra protein. Too much protein can damage your kidneys.
Another assumption about protein is that it makes you bulk up or lose weight. Not necessarily.
For yourself, I would generally use protein as a recovery drink after a workout, so it can aid to the repairing of muscles so you don't have that much of a sore feeling the next day. This is for intense workouts, however.
(I personally would just walk around after a workout to expel some lactic acid)
So protein or no protein? It is really up to you and what you observe in your overall intake. If you are deficient, it is a great way to get some protein besides eating red meat. If you are alright or even over, I wouldn't recommend it.0 -
You could always get the staple that dieters and bodybuilders use, best quality for money. 100% gold standard whey by Optimum nutrition. The bigger packs are better in terms of quantity/$ and when your hungry you could just drink 1-2 scoops0
