Exercise + Whooping cough?

So apparently I have not only been exposed to but have caught the whooping cough that's going around. I still want to exercise and everything but my chest feels tight and I've had near constant headaches. Unfortunatly I can't afford a gym membership and all I have at home is an exercise bike, any tips on how to keep progressing even when sick?

Kind of hard especially if you have whooping cough. I'd personally rest up some so your body can recover. Drink lots of fluids. If you do work out, just take it easy.0

Go light. Doing something is better than nothing but make sure not to stress your body out too much. If you go too hard it might take your body longer to recover from the sickness.
I have a nasty cold right now too and the thought of working out makes me want to fall asleep. I am going light with long walks and light weight lifting.
One good thing about being sick, your appetite is usually suppressed a bit so even if you can't work out, at least you know you're eating is in check!0 -
take it easy until you recover. If you feel like you can exercise a little than go for it, but listen to your body. maybe do only light exercise until you recover.0

You should stay home. Whooping Cough is extremely contagious and dangerous to young children. Take care of yourself. I think exercising would be a very bad idea unless you can think of a form of exercise that doesn't require breathing. Let your body work to make you better. I hope you are well soon and can get back to exercising -- but take it slow. :flowerforyou:0

Take it easy. weight loss is 70% what you eat, therefore you can take a break from exercising without gaining a lot of weight. Just remember to eat good quality foods and you will be just fine.

Are you out of the infectious stage? Because if not you should be avoiding the gym, and anywhere else public, for that matter....
I doubt you would get much benefit from exercise since the coughing will probably restrict your ability to breathe effectively during your work out. Take it easy - you are ill with a fairly serious infection. Give yourself time to heal, continue to eat as healthily as you can (but I always give myself a complete amnesty on ice cream when I'm sick, I figure it's worth it for a few days), and ease back into your regular routine once your symptoms subside. Healing should take precedence over weight loss.0 -
REST is best, since you have tightness in the chest and headaches; try some body weight or isometric exercises. While in a prone position {bed; couch; floor} do some leg lifts. Avoid any type of weight or aerobic exercises that are going to get you breathing hard. Fresh air in warm weather will do you some good, a leisure walk if tolerable. A few years back I was laid up for a month and half after a leg injury, discovered resistance bands, not very expensive and do not take up space. This is my personally opinion and I acknowledge it is against the consensus of the masses.0

Also, I still have to work (commercial janitorial) so there's def some calorie burning
(also I never see anyone else while I work so I'm not going to infect the world)0
