smiles..think of all your handwork and how far you have come! that should do it! but seriously..holidays are meant to be enjoyed..portion control is the way to go, and if you over-do it a little, then just work a little harder the next day :-)
  • I'm not afraid. I'm ready to kick Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas booty!

Try going for a run in the morning rather than worrying about what to eat? I'm running a 5k on Thanksgiving Day. It's okay to have a spike day.

lots and lots of water all day, then you may have a better chance of not over-indulging! also, have just a bit of all the good stuff! then you won't feel like you're missing out! :-)

I SO agree with this post. When it comes to portion control, I have found the easiest way to handle the holidays is with a smaller plate. I use a dessert plate for my meals & do not overflow it.
I have also found that one trip to the food table is enough for me & I have to thank my friends on MFP for helping me make that change (smaller stomach) in my life.
  • I am just going to keep thinking, every New Year's I say that I am going to lose weight this year. I want to change that! That is going to be my motivation to get thru the next couple months!

So, find something that motivates you to get thru it! Good Luck!!!

This time of year is great for trying new recipes! You can have all the foods you love in lower fat versions or just eat less of the regular ones. I use pumpkin in dessert breads and cookies instead of oil or butter, crustless pie is lower cal, etc. Try something new, it'll be fun and if you bring food to gatherings you will know you can at least eat that. And i love recipe calorie calculators. I use this one all the time http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php Just type in all the ingredient and how many servings it makes and then you have the info you need to know how much you want to eat of it.

I have family visiting in 3 weeks that will make it tough. They eat one meal while planning where to eat the next. Then family will be visiting for 3 days for Thanksgiving, so a lot of eating will be going on then as well. I am just going to have to get a grip and watch the portions.....exercise....and say NO to sweets. I am a carb addict.

    Start practicing your self-control, NOW.
  • My biggest fear is not Halloween or Christmas, but it's Thanksgiving,, every year, I go to my daughter's in-law home and everyone in family is SKINNY,,, naturally,, all that calories will be served... Heaven helps me....
