Sodium OD

I'm not usually a big salt person. But I got taken out to a big chain restaurant for dinner and had food that didn't seem too salty at the time but now I feel like crap. My hands feel swollen, my mouth is dry and I just feel gross. I've been chugging water and went and worked out to sweat a bit but I am wondering if there is anything else I can do to flush my system a bit. I really feel like garbage. Bleh.

I hear that. A friend and I went shopping all day and of course ate out and the sodium in all restaurant food is outrageous!!!! I'll be drinking extra water tomorrow.

there isn't much you can do because your body's probably still processing it but try to increase your potassium to level it off. i try to always have at least a 1:1 or 2:1 potassium: sodium ratio although I hear 3:1 is ideal for the human body (its hard!). a lot of fruits and veggies are high in potassium tho. Also make sure to drink your 8+ cups of water for the next few days. you'll definitely be fine soon!

Continue with the water, at least 8 glasses a day for the next few days. Go easy on salt for the next few days too. Feel better! :-)

That's pretty much about it. Keep on chuggin' and keep on truckin'.

I did the same thing today (went to a chain place we rarely go to. Between the ridiculous calories and the sodium, too, I remember why we rarely go there), felt like crap, then went on a long run. Feel better, but still ridiculously cotton-mouthed. Just gotta keep drinking water, it'll go away eventually.
