Protein snacks?

I'm always low on protein in my diet. I'm not sure how to get more in! I don't want it to be really calorific, as I said, it's for snacks not meals. So far, the only thing I'm coming up with is a yoghurt and a corn cereal that has added protein.

So I'm after suggestions. However, I am coeliac so can't eat gluten/ wheat. I'm also not a big meat fan, so no chomping on chicken drumsticks or slices of deli meat! lol

I love beans etc, but how to eat them on the go as a snack rather than part of a meal? I don't mind eggs now and then, but not hard boiled so not really a snack as they required to be cooked at the time you eat them.

Thanks :-)

And no shakes/ supplements!! I will never be jumping on that bandwagon. Sorry - I'm fussy I know!

    - egg whites.. you could hard boil some eggs for a few days and leave them refrigerated and only take them out when you want a snack
    - almonds
    - spinach.. maybe make a side salad with spinach & beans & other veggies
    - greek yogurt.. i add either honey or fresh fruit to mine to make it tasty

prawns?? or shrimp? I could just eat a pack of them as a snack, not that high in calories and very high in protein

Agree with ChrisStoney - why are protein shakes bad? I have one daily after my workout. Supplements my protein and whey protein is good for you. I use Apex Fit Supreme - get a big jug at my gym for $30/32.

I am also a "low meat" eater - so I struggle with getting higher protein. Reduced fat cheese sticks are good for a snack. Greek yogurt is excellent. I've tried MANY brands and so far Chobani is the most palatable to me. Nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistashios, brazils). Egg whites.

I just don't feel right to drink my food that's all. Plus I hate shakes.... hate the texture etc. It's my personal view, I'm not saying I'm right you're wrong. Whatever works for you.

Yep, I'm in to the yoghurt. Didn't realise spinach was high in protein.... love it so will definitely eat more of that! :-)

Cheese - string, mini sticks or Babybels, or spready triangles on a rice cake. Cottage cheese.

Humous with celery or carrot sticks

peanut butter - on a cracker, or on veggies like celery or cucumber

Roast soy beans or wasabi peas - and there's a recipe on here somewhere for roast chick-peas.

    Seafood/ crab sticks.

Fish pate - blitz some smoked macerel with a blob of horseradish sauce for a goregous spread.

These sound yummy, I'll do a search for the chick peas xxx
