I really need to figure out what's going to motivate me. Whatever I'm doing now, or not doing, just isn't doing the trick. So discouraged.

What are you doing or not doing? Motivation must come from within.

We all get into ruts. It will turn around, you'll see.0

Make small mini goals and reward yourself when you achieve them.
You've lost 15 pounds which is great!
Are you worried you can't finish to make your goal weight?
You can do whatever you set your mind to. Stay strong and focused on the end result you're after.
Feel free to friend request me and I will do my best to support and encourage you.0 -

For me I had to look deep inside and think hard about WHY I wanted to get healthy and ultimately lose weight. Seeing pics of yourself at your heavier weight compared to one when you were thinner might work, too. It sure opened my eyes!
Good luck!0 -
Some days motivation comes easier than other days. I always go to my husband for motivation. Him along with some of the message boards where people post their success stories. Seeing success stories of so many people who are in the same boat as us really gets you inspired to kick some butt.
Hang in there. 15 lbs since July is great, and it will only get better. Feel free to friend me for support.0 -

What are some things in your life that you currently enjoy? List those out. How many of those would be better enjoyed with a healthier, fitter body?0 -
Why are you trying to lose weight? There is some reason that you feel the need to get rid of this weight so take that and remember that every time you want to give in. "Discipline is remembering what we want." When we forget what we are working for we tend to let anything come in and distract us. Plus it doesn't help that our flesh is weak and lazy. You have to make the decision ahead of time that no matter what you are going to follow through, but remember we are not perfect and sometimes we eat unhealthy. Don't tear yourself down. Acknowledge it and then rededicate yourself from that point onward.0

I agree with the mini goals (as well as a friend request!) To break it up (if you need a lose a lot of weight) makes it not as scary! From my highest I needed to lose 64 lbs - so my final weight of 105 seemed so far away. I set 2 goals for myself before my final one. Today, I reached that first goal - almost a month early.
Also, the more and more you use this site, to see the numbers go down on your weigh in - is just a good feeling! MFP is a great community. I know you can do it!0 -
read my will power blog below and do the exercise suggested in it. either you have powerful enough reasons to go on the journey or you don't. if you have them, write them down so you can review often...do not let yourself lose sight of your powerful reasons for being on the journey.0

I really appreciate everyone's input and support. There are so many great ideas out there! I'm a list maker, so I'm definitely going to try writing some things down. Maybe the thrill of crossing out tasks and goals will help keep me motivated. Also, I think breaking up my goal will help me. I'm not trying to lose a huge amount of weight like some people on the site, but it's still hard for me. When I see success stories of people who have lost 50, 75, 100+ lbs I am truly in awe!0

I always think you have to want something badly enough or else it's just never going to happen, no matter how much encouragement you get.
I did well at school but I know I could have done so much better. I always used to blamed my folks for not being pushy enough, but truthfully... I was lazy, I knew I could get away with doing the barest minimum and sailing though with good (although not exceptional) grades.
Similarly with my weight, I got nagged enough to lose weight and always was looking for someone to help me with my diet and exercise... but it was a always short-lived because I was happy to go back to my old ways.
Now, I want to lose weight and get back into nice, flattering clothes, but I also want to look good naked. I get encouragement from my husband and our friends, but I I'm not doing it for them. It's ME, ME, ME from now on... well as far as my diet and fitness goes. :happy:0 -
I have lost a total of 61 pounds but have gained back around 10. Personal life became very crazy along with work getting stressful. I keep telling myself it's time to get back on track but when it's time to workout I lose all the motivation I built up. I have a gym at work with a treadmill and Precor machine but I'm not always sure I am doing the correct workout or eating the right things. Now that I have lost the 61 pounds it seemed to only get harder with a constant feeling I'm not eating enough. I also workout with 2 co-workers and we all motivated each other at one time but we all have seemed to lose it. They are both guys and do different workouts so now I feel on my own. I think I need a lot of cardio and they want to do more weight lifting. I was once excited about the weight loss but the excitement ended along with the motivation. Not really sure how to get that back.0
