Heart Rate workout

Hi
Can anyone recommend a good resource for learning about heart rate training? (Which I will use mainly with walking/joggin or other exercise that needs little equipment - open to ideas here too!).
I have tried googling, but there is a lot of conflicting information, and being new to it I'm not sure what to believe! I have a polar f4, but all I current use it for is my calorie burn, and I guess I could get a hell of a lot more out of it?

it has been my experience that if you keep your heart rate between 65% and 75% of maximum heart rate, you will burn more fat. 75% to 85% starts to put you in an anaerobic state. At that state you will burn less fat. Over 85% you get into lactate thresholds and you start starving your body of lactate acid which lets you perform longer. Each has its prupose but your foundation is to be at 65% to 75% 65% of your workouts. I use these when cycling. I will push into higher states them let my body recover. I have increased aerobic capacity by 20% after 3 months of interval traing. I don't know if this makes any sense, but this has been my experience.0

Your HRM will keep you in your heart rate zone. It will beep at you when your HR is too low and beep when it is too high. I have the same one.0

And mid to high in your zone is a good cardio workout, and mid to lower is fat burning. You need to find what works for you. If you put in all your stats (age, weight, height...etc) into your HRM it will figure your zone out for you.0

Yes it keeps telling me how many minutes in the 'zone' but I didn't know what it meant. Will check out the polar website.
