HELP: Food Journal Check!

For the first time I am asking you all to help me with my eating. I thought I could handle it but I can't. I need tips. Could you any of you look at my food journal every once in a while and give me tips and say "shame on you" when I go crazy and eat too much of the wrong thing?

Just from my quick glance, through about 5 days:
1. So much cereal! Ah!
2. Where are the veggies? I see corn sometimes.... but that's about it. They're an easy way to bulk up your diet, make you feel fuller for less calories.
I'd say go look at mine, but I've been sick for about 2 weeks with some stupid bug that went around the school I student teach at so it's not helpful lol.0 -
agree about the cereal.. if you're going to eat cereal make sure its a high fiber low sugar cereal... like kashi or fiber one... also are you eating enough to stay full throughout the day? try to get more fruits and veggies.... and stay away from the white rice... otherwise it looks good to me!0

I see fruit loops? Don't buy that sugary crap. Where's the veggies? Celery, salads, carrots?
Things like pringles if you don't have them you won't eat them. When I have cereals I have more nutrition in 1/2 or 3/4 cup then you do in 2 cups. Look up Nature's Path cereals, Acia plus granola , Heritage flakes cereals are good. Why not put some blueberries on that yogurt. Even adding chia or flax onto the yogurt.
Simple suggestions.0 -
i was going to say the same thing about ther cereal...maybe better cereal like shredded wheat or oatmeal or maybe kashi. are you living in a dorm? it is hard to avoid the processed food when you are a student and don't have alot of experience cooking but you will be so much better off if you focus on trying to get rid of the sweet cereal, granola bars, frozen yogurt, chips, etc. not all at once....a girl has to have a little fun! ps...maybe little more protein would help. apples dipped in natural peanut butter, carrots dipped in hummus, greek yogurt, string cheese. it is hard to sit and study and not crunch...best of luck!0

I would personally change your settings from the MFP default -- your carbs and protein should be almost completely opposite.
Way too much cereal, rice, potatoes and bad carbs --- there are much better cereals out there, even some with protein. My settings are 40%protein, 30% carb, 30% fat.
In general, those type of carbs do not keep you feeling full for very long --- that's what protein does. More lean meats and veggies. Also one of the highest/worst veggies is corn, and the highest/worst fruit is bananas.
Add quinoa into your diet ..you can use it as a grain like couscous, you can buy flakes and use it like oatmeal -- its high protein and low glycemic "good carb" -- beans and nuts are good too.
Try adding greek yogurt --- the good stuff that has more protein than sugar (not the fruity/sweet stuff -- add your own fruit and sweetener)0 -
Thank you all, I've been getting on myself about the veggies. I'm trying to get back to that, I guess I need to just jump in. I find it hard to sometimes. However, I shall definitely be doing that.0
