sooo my question is: ive been doing running, and abs workouts and toning etc and i can feel some hard muscles around my abs and they feel tight, however i have a layer of flab over the top... how the HELL do i get rid of the flabby bits to reveal the muscle i know i have underneath???
are there any foods or anything supplements i can take or eat that will cut the flab down and reveal the muscle???
thanks everyone???

but im running alot, do i need to do even more??
how do you get your tummy firm??0 -
Facts:
1) everyone has abs under the layer of fat... even if you dont exercise at all!
2) fat burns evenly... you cant decide which areas you want to get rid off first
losing weight is the only way to get rid of enough fat to show the muscles underneath. no supplements, no special diets, no exercises
good luck!0 -
you're prob going to get this alot, but you can't spot reduce fat. you just have to work hard, eat well, and hope it comes off there as the rest of you slims down.
good luck!0 -
You just have to be patient. Keep eating at a calorie deficit, keep doing cardio, and add in a little strength training. Numerous crunches and other ab exercises will NOT reduce stomach fat, but they will strengthen the muscle so when you lose enough body fat from diet and cardio, they will show up nicely.
There's no special foods to do it. Keep doing what you are doing and be patient. :flowerforyou:0 -
To my knowledge there is no such thing as spot training. You just need to keep doing what you're doing and it will go away eventually!0

As I keep hearing: abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym. The only way to get rid of belly fat is the only way to get rid of fat generally: maintain a caloric deficit. I've found I've lost more fat by incorporating greater amounts of weight training in my routine in addition to the running/swimming/biking I do regularly.0

Try a different cardio work out, I found that doing different cardio work outs helps to speed things up, but as everyone else says, you can't spot work on one area for getting rid of the fat, it will go in its own time. My belly was the last area to show signs of toning and reducing fat.
BTW I do Spinning classes, Zumba, Rebound and Bokwa for cardio and have taken up Pole fitness and TRX for toning as with these two you use your whole body not just isolated areas.
Good luck and keep up the great work you will get there0 -
thanks everyone...
just didnt know if less sugar helps get rid of tummy flab or not..
i guess ill keep going with cardio and strength training.. soo frustrating hurry up already!!0 -
But remember that you are female and therefore you should have a layer of subcutaneous fat overlying your muscles, if you haven;t then you are too thin.0

All of this... i am at my goal weight but my stomach still needs work... i have been on MFP since May, which really isnt that long... it takes patience as much as anything else!!0 -

i forgot: some people are lucky with their fat distribution... others arent... and thats something you cant change0 -
not sure if you have had children/been pregnant or not...if you have, well... i dont know how long it takes to get rid of what i call "baby fat"! ive been trying for 12 years and 5 months!!
Watch what you put in your mouth! exercise! drink plenty of water! stay away from alcohol!.....in short, continue on this site, have patience....it takes time to gain the weight, it takes time to lose it...
ive been exercising to the jillian michaels 30 day shred, and ive lost INCHES around my whole body, not so much WEIGHT loss....but, i can see deifinition...i know i have a 6 pack in there....:)
good luck to you0
