OCD when entering your food to your diary....

I am so bored at work, so thought I would share...
I have this strange OCD obsession when entering food on to my diary.... When I enter stuff, I have to do it in "order"... for example, if I eat a sandwich, I put the bread on first, then the butter/marg then the filling.... like the order you make it. When I have a cuppa tea, I put the tea first and then the sweetner! HAHA I know it sounds pretty petty but its how I like my diary to be. It would seriously bug me if I didn't have it in order...
Please tell me I am not the only one who does this?  :blushing: :blushing:

-
i'm not that bad.......but i get twitchy if i cant enter in stuff to my diary0
-
lol im the same way0
-
This is how I do it too.... for me it is about not forgetting anything. If you enter in each item the way it is made you will not leave anything out.
I am a bit OCD myself0 -
Yes and I hate when I Make a mistake and have to delete something, because then it's all out of order. :grumble:0
-
i love this topic, i do it too0
-
Hee hee...I could see myself doing the same thing!
One of my favorite t-shirts is:
"I have CDO -- It's like OCD, but all the letters are in the right order." :laugh:0 -
Well not with the food so much but...
I do like to do my push ups in sets of 16. That way the numbers add up to 7. I do the same thing with the time on the microwave.
Stop judging me!0 -
I'd say its more memory recall than OCD, I do this when I can't find or forget something, Ill retrace my steps in order, so at that point I eliminate the what about this, have I added or done this parts, because everything is laid out in order of how it came to be :-D0
-
I do, but only because I have no memory!0

pmfsl - you've made me fell I've been doing it all wrong lol0

I used to hate that too, but there is a way around it!! Instead of deleting the item, just re click on it and then click add again and it will put it to the bottom x0 -

There is no right or wrong way, its just the way I do it! Each to their own x0 -

Yeah.....but what if I ate that item first? I'd still have to delete everything for that meal & start again.....have to log in the order in which I eat.....
Sue x0 -
Can't say I do, HOWEVER, I have to enter the "main" part of the meal so that it is listed before the sides..lol. Guess I kinda have the same thing goin on there.0

If you ate that item first, then click on the rest of the items and re-add them, eventually the item you ate first will be at the top. I suppose it will take the same amount of time as deleting them all. But its how I do it x0 -

That made me LOL!
And yes, I do, this too. I could lie and say that it's about not forgetting anything, but for me, that's just a perk. For me, it's just about having everything in order.0 -
I don't always do it, but when I enter foods into my diary I do like them in order (the same when I'm creating a recipe).
Is it OCD or the sign of an ordered mind... naw... it's OCD :laugh:0 -

Thank you. I agree. As someone who actually has OCD, not a little quirk, but real, debilitating OCD, I cannot stand it when people say "I'm a little OCD'. That's like saying "I'm a little schizophrenic".
If people knew what OCD really felt like, they wouldn't joke about it like it's some funny little habit.0 -
Woahhh ok, this post was meant to be light hearted and a bit of fun. Sorry if using the term "OCD" offended some people, but it really wasn't meant in a horrible way!!!0
-
I think people need to 'lighten up' this thread was obviously abit of fun and not intended to offend anyone with OCD...... Although clearly it has offended people with PARANOIA!!!!0
-
That's my point-there is nothing to "lighten up" about. It's not a joking topic.
Maybe I should start making derogatory posts about how cancer treatment is a great weight loss plan. People would jump all over me for that one, wouldn't they?
My only point is making jokes about other people's conditions only perpetuates the stigma that goes along with it. Just because it's a mental health condition doesn't exclude it from "not funny/joking matter" topics. OCD is just as much a medical condition as cancer, diabetes, PCOS-no one cracks jokes about them. So just be mindful, or pick something else to make jokes about.0 -
I think a topic about people losing weight because of cancer is a little different than a thread which was meant to be a joke and not to offend people is abit different. I think it's getting abit stupid now, we get that you didn't like the thread. End of.0

First of all I will respect your view on this subject, however as a person who does suffer OCD in my life I feel your view a little stereotypical of someone who does suffers. Now I joke about many conditions I have because it makes dealing with the strain of living each day with them a little easier to bear and hasn't it always been said that laughter is the best cure?
The topic is not in a taste which belittles the suffers of the condition and therefore is not derogative to you or anyone else. However you seem to have taken the matter to heart, and maybe you should find a better way to vent your frustration. After all angry is but temporary insanity. Having the frame of mind that you seem to have got stuck in will only lead to one road and its not very nice.
However since stigma around mental health is a topic I deal with first hand and it is bred through lake of proper education on the matter. maybe instead of becoming up tight around the matter. Try educating someone to help break the stigma rather than becoming defensive thus creating and reinforcing your own stigma.
Mental health should be a subject of open discussion to avoid this misunderstanding and break stigma's once and for all.0
