Food: Peanut butter
Misconception: This creamy spread is an indulgence best enjoyed occasionally because it's high in fat and calories.
Why It's Good For You: Major studies confirm that eating peanuts can lower risk for coronary heart disease. Eating peanut butter or peanuts has been associated with lower total cholesterol, lower ldl or 'bad' cholesterol, and lower triglycerides, all of which are associated with lower cardiovascular disease risk. These health benefits seem to occur without promoting weight gain. Participants in one study reported that peanut butter or peanuts were much more filling snacks than rice cakes or pickles and tamed hunger for a much longer period.
It's actually good for you!

I eat two apples a day and at least one of those is usually accompanied by a tablespoon of wonderful Jiff!!0

PB is good for you,, but the mass produced skippies of the world.. not so great.. give an all natural pb a try, it has no transfat, none of the fillers or preservatives in it.. if it's ingredients are peanuts your good.. if it's peanuts followed by 20 things you can't pronounce, proceed with caution!0

You can make it at home and some health food stores will even let you grind your own peanuts. Skippy, Jif, commercial PB has partially hydrogenated oils (aka trans fats) added (and usually sugar and salt also) so that the PB doesn't separate. Natural PB you have to stir because the oil separates but it is SO much better!0 -
