I was diagnosed with diabetes in July with an A1c level of 12 which, for those not familiar with this blood test, is very , very high. Doctor held off on insulin, put me on Metformin and told me to lose weight ASAP. 3 months and 28 lbs lighter my A1c is now 6.1 which is basically normal! Doctor says he may take me off of Metformin if my next tests in January come back good.

That's great! I went from 8.3 on 3/29/11 to 5.3 on 7/26/11, a weight loss of 28 lbs in that time frame - no mention of dropping any meds. from my doc. Good for you!
