Inappropriate! - My rant...

I did look for a random rant thread but did not find a recent one - feel free to post your own rant here if you'd like to do so.

I just had a plumber come out to look at a leak under my kitchen sink. From a well-known company, not a Mom-and-Pop type business. While he's writing out an estimate I am going through old pictures of my family that I found in a box. We get to talking about family and children. He then tells me that he likes two things in life: something I can't remember and women. And that he just recently got caught cheating on his wife with a 23-year-old woman because his wife found pictures of them. Now, mind you, I am home alone with this stranger who I don't know from a hole in the ground and he tells me this? He then goes on about it and I politely told him I found it inappropriate to talk about to his client. Changed the subject, he gives me the estimate, leaves. I did call customer service and my homeowner (we rent) to advise them. Trouble is, homeowner also spoke with him and told me that the guy wanted to come back to my house to apologize. I told her he could come back when my husband was home, but if he were to come back today with only my car in the driveway, I would be very upset. (Didn't say it, but also thought that I'd be answering the door with my Springfield Armory XD .45. Dude gave me the CREEPS!)

So, now that I have that off my chesticles, anyone else care to pull up a lounge chair and rant as well?

Edit: also forgot to mention that I had to cancel my orthopedist appointment about my bum knee in order to meet the guy here "between 8 and 3" because of the damn leak! But good news is my knee feels about 80% better... Just another piece of poop flung my way today.

Wow! You were lucky he didn't attack you. I hope you're skilled at using that .45 and practice target shooting on a regular basis. By the way, that was not a "rant". Your safety was at risk. Congratulations for taking the appropriate action by notifying the homeowner.

I wouldn't have been offended or scared, but I guess it depends on HOW he said it. I probably would have laughed at him to his face, but I seriously doubt he was doing anything but feeling you out. He was probably hoping you would be that kind of "down" too. or maybe he doesnt have anyone to talk to and felt like sharing.....

either way, not really something to get ur panties in a bunch over.

    Ew that is inappropriate!

I had a city councilman come to my door and introduce himself. This is the 2nd time he has stopped by, the 1st time my FI was home and i made him talk to him because i was making (attempting to make) dinner. The 2nd time it was around 7 and knock knock knock i open the door THERE HE IS! He wanted to see the inside of my house.. um NO! not when i'm alone and really not ever.. so i stepped outside to talk to him. Holding my little guard dog.. yeah she wouldnt do much but still =) and he asked me why i liked living where i do and if i plan on staying in the town i said yes, and i'm pretty excited about the new YMCA going in up the street. NO LIE he looked me head to toe and said " You dont need it"

He may have meant it as a compliment but it just creeped me out! I was like oh?... ? I dunno something about him gave me the creeps and honestly if you want me to vote for you ,dont hit on me?

UUUGGGHHHH.....Awkward. I'm always leary of having people I don't know come into my home when I'm alone. Next time you'll have to strap that weapon across your chest for all to see, just in case they get any creepy ideas. What a creep. I hope he gets fired over it.

What an idiot! Who could be proud of that???

Here's my rant. Comcast recently made us get all those little digital box things, on September 13 to be exact. I get home last night, no signal. Call for assistance at 6:00 p.m., some lady that can barely speak English is telling me there's a problem with the signal in our area and to give it a couple of hours! That wasn't to bad b/c I had to leave anyway. So, at 9:30 I get back and still nothing. I call again. This time I get some guy who's like "oh, let's just send a refresh signal and give it ten" Okie dokie. 30 minutes later still nothing. I call again. Different guy but was very helpful . Has me unplugging and moving stuff, you name it. Still nothing. So guess what? Now I am waiting for a service call on THURSDAY to determine if the box is blown (already) or if it's the connection or what~! Between 9-11. They are supposed to call me 15 minutes before arrival so I can meet them there but if they get there and I am not home they leave! Really, I am supposed to take 2 or so hours personal time to wait for them but they couldn't wait 5 for me to get there??
GRRR. Did I mention the damn thing has only been on just over a month!?

Ok so this isn't as bad as yours..but while we were in the process of buying our home..last month, we had lots of contractors, electricians and so on coming to fix things and give estimates. Most of the time I was the only one dealing with these people, all men, because my husband was at work and I work from home.

Well one the electrician, who was from a well established company, was creepy.. just overly friendly with me I can't even say in detail what he said that got to me, but he just gave me the creeps.

Well then a week later I am logging in to my facebook and I see that I have a new friend request. I couldn't place the name right away so I asked my hubs if he was friends with this guy or knew him.. he said no. It was REALLY bugging me that I couldn't figure out who this guy was ( I didn't friend him since I didn't know him.) Well, later that day I was like ...WAIT.. I think that is the name of a worker I met with.. and sure enough it was the creepy electrician. He had friended me from his personal account.. not a business account or anything. :::: shudders::: I probably should have called his employer.. My husband was like " honey.. he had to have taken your personal info home in order to have your name and stuff" But I just deleted his request and left it alone... he hasn't contacted me again so thats good!

I disagree! With every job there are boundaries, this guy clearly has an issue and with the world being the way it is you can never just blow off some *kitten* rant and let them go scott free! I am glad she called and reported it. I do agree that he was probably testing the waters, seeing if she was a desperate housewife or whatever, but either way he's an idiot that needed a reality check!

I think he probably watches too many bad porn films lol

I wouldn't have been upset or intimidated at all, But I think it's a personal issue, I do see that if you are the sort of person who finds that offensive and upsetting that it would worry you a lot being on your own, I am not, I talk to people all the time and rarely am offended, occasionally it is how someone says it that makes you squirm and as I was not there, I don't know HOW he said it and so not sure how I would have felt. I doubt it would have worried me as am not that sort of person.

Wow - you're relaxed. Home alone with a man that may possibly be "feeling" you out. I think the panties should be securely bunched.
