Exercise with broken foot?

Hi all,
I hadn't been going to the gym at all for the last year and a half and I've been eating horribly because of grad school related stress. I finally passed some major exams and have the mental space and determination again to begin a real exercise regime. I was going to the gym 5x per week and doing about 40 minutes of stairs and cross-trainer. I then got a personal trainer and was doing great! But then (in a completely unrelated incident--I slipped on the curb) I broke my foot lightly and am on crutches for two weeks. I really don't want to lose these two weeks to no exercise! Any tips on exercises with crutches or upper body exercises from home as I can't get to the gym? I have been going up and down the stairs on my crutches and it's great for my upper body but I'd love some more suggestions. Thanks so much!

i understand...i broke my foot before my fourth year of college by tripping on a curb as well--fifth metatarsal. it was awful! unfortunately, i kind of didn't do any exercise and gained gained gained and felt pretty miserable.
SWIM. my doctor recommeded this to me once i got the cast off...and i didn't do it...but YOU should!!! plus, jillian (michaels) says if you have an injury on your lower body, doing punches with or without hand weights is a great way to get the blood flowing and work on toning.
i hope you heal soon! i feel your pain.0 -
