New and looking for motivation

I joined a few hours ago and I've been really enjoying reading through some of the forums and posts. What a great community! I'm a 27 year old graduate student. My weight has bounced up and down over the years--I was chubby in junior high but lost it all in high school, gained weight my freshman year of college and then took it all off that summer, and so I know that in the past I've had the motivation to lose weight. This time has been harder. I have gained 30 pounds in the last 2 years through stress, comfort eating, and lack of time for exercise. I started to try to turn my life around in June, but it hasn't been working. I've been going to the gym 5 times a week and doing 45 minutes of good cardio, but then I come home and eat bread and olive oil, granola bars, etc etc and end up more than replacing the calories I've burned off. So this time I'm looking to make permanent changes that will help me lose weight and keep it off. More than anything, I want to get rid of that sick feeling of disappointment in myself when I look in the mirror and realize that I don't want to look like this. I chose to wait a few hours before introducing myself because it's getting on 3pm, and I'm beginning to realize lunch is a few hours away, and dinner isn't for a while. Normally this is when I head to the fridge to nibble on leftovers...one bite at a time until I've eaten an unplanned half a meal. Today I'm not going to do that. I'm going to make a pot of tea and have that instead and wait for dinner. If I get so hungry that I start being less productive, I'll have an apple. Slowly, with your support, I'm going to gain the motivation I need to make this work. Looking to friend anyone who feels similarly!

  • Feel free to friend me! I just joined a few days ago and have had similar weight patterns in the past. I gained weight my first year of college and then took it off during the summer, but now it's back. I'm here to stop those patterns too :)
