Hey. I'm new here. I've had a profile for a while but never got into this until my Dr. told me to lose 40 lbs. That's lovely. I'm on a 1200 limit too. I need motivation (besides being mad at myself for gaining 25 lbs since I've been married). I've lost weight before and kept it off then I got married and started a really crazy awesome job where I sit all day then go home and cook for my hubby. I just got a gym membership and workout as much as I can. It's hard making time. I just need someone who's doing the same thing as me and needs positivity.

I sit all day in my classes, then go home and cook for my family...
So I know how you feel!
If you`d like to as me, feel free :), I`d like to give and receive motivation.
  • Hello,

I too am in a similar spot! I've lost about 20 pounds since January of this year. Then my daughter was in an accident and we spent alot of time at the hospital and with her care--all in all about 3 months worth. She is fine now and back out on her own. But while she was with me and during the stressful times I've turned to eating the "old" way again and have gained back 10 pounds--and have lost my motivation to return to the gym. I know keeping track of what I eat and working out helps, but man...it's tough for me to find the motivation again. I'm trying daily. I need to hear from others and their struggles to help me....there is strength in numbers. :)

  • Oh Ive definetely been there before and as a matter of fact I still am. My wife and I sound similar to your situation we both were in shape when we met. My wife ran a lot and I was a gym rat (which is part of my problem now). I worked out all on strength and hardly any cardio. My wife and I are both analysts so we both have jobs where we sit all day looking at computers. My metabalism slowed down and I didnt have as much time to work out as we used to. So the big frame I made for myself through working out began to fill up with fat. Instead of me being a big guy I became a stocky guy. I wouldnt say Im fat but definetely not what I used to be. My wife has given birth to our 2 kids and is really on a roll in getting back to shape. We both walk our dog everyday with our kids. It can be done I was 245 before our son was born. I got down to 224 for a while, but I fell off track now Im up and down between 238 and 235 but I will get down to 215 which was the weight I was at when I met my wife. I would say the thing to keep in mind is lifestyle change. I hate water but Im finding ways to like it such as Mio and Crystal Light. I walk my dog and sometimes we run together too. You have to cheat sometimes too such as eating some things you like but making it with a healthy twist if that makes sense. My wife makes chicken alfredo, but now she makes the sauce with some sort of spinach dressing and instead of brocoli she uses cauliflower which is more healthy. Lifestyle change and put a health twist to everything you do and dont forget to snack keep "little" snacks in between meals because you dont want to get hungry. I find it when you get hungry you eat more so just satisfy your hunger with eating at appropriate times and eating small snacks in between. Women are more focused then men so I know you can get it done :)

Wow... thanks guys. Just the replies to my post makes me feel better.

@BadMoodMoody... I used to be a gym rat too. lol. I was about 1/2 Cardio/ 1/2 Strength. My dad used to be a powerlifter and I grew up lifting too. Not into competitions tho. I'm a good cook. My problem is carbs. I LOVE my carbs. Breads and pasta are my weakness. I've switched to wheat/veggie products which are healthier than regular pasta.

@crazytreelady... College sucks but you really don't realize how much you're really doing. I'd park a few buildings away (usually only spot available) and walk to class. You walk everywhere!!!! Now, I sit at my desk and only get up to run to the bathroom or go to my car. Not a lot of activity. Keep it up though. You move a lot more than you realize.

@jennipooh82... I haven't had any kids yet but I did marry my husband. lol. He's a big kid. It always seems like something comes up to get in the way!!! Like last night, I had to run to the store bc I was babysitting my little bro-in-law and needed to get him kid food. I ran out of time to workout! But we did have fun playing around with my sweet puppy, Zoey Jane.

@angiefroemel... I'm sorry to hear about your struggles! That has to be hard to deal with! When I'm stressed, I don't eat and I still gain weight. How weird is that??? Motivation doesn't come easy to those who struggle. The problem with humans is that we have to see someone else to motivate ourselves. I kinda wish I could just look at myself and just GO... But when is it ever that easy? I'm trying to do a reset on my brain. Make myself more positive! So far, it's going pretty well. My co-worker told me that he wants me to lead a project since I was so self-confident and had wonderful motivation (who?? Me??? He must be mistaken... but I guess that's a different type of motivation.)

Thanks for the posts guys. Sorry my reply was SOOO long. I had too much free time at work and a lot on my mind. Keep it up!!!!!
