Anyone else in love with it?!
It's seriously the best invention ever. You pick what you want off the menu, then you can remove, add, and substitute ANYTHING you want and get the nutritional information. And they have really healthy stuff like wheat buns, lettuce wrapped, turkey burgers, veggie burgers, etc.
Example, I just chose the gourmet cheese burger and was able to cut it from 900+ calories to about 530! I could go further and ditch the wheat bun and wrap it in lettuce, but I'm feeling like treating myself tonight.

I used to love Red Robin, until I realized how horrible their food is.

Sure, it may only be 530 calories, but how much sodium and fat is in there?

I got so grossed out when I looked at their nutritional facts, I can't ever eat there again.

I'm glad you found something you could stomach.

I just did a google search for your topic title and didn't find anything, can you provide us with a link?

I don't have a problem with the fat and sodium. I have a problem with the kids. Seats in the bar open? Yes, for the love of all that is holy, put me in the bar.
  • Qdoba also has this kind of program on their website. It's cool, but I could not find any combinations that were less than like 1000 calories for one meal without getting a salad basically. :-/

Just go down and click the "build your meal" icon. It's at the bottom in the middle :)

I've looked at RR's calorie count on the menu. It's difficult to find a decent meal w/o too many calories.

Not too much fat and sodium, actually.

You have to really customize it. It's nearly impossible to just pick something as it is and have it be low in calories.

That's what I'm gathering by your post. It's good to know if I'm stuck going there but I won't want to make ordering my meal a graduate school thesis project.

Honestly, it's pretty simple. The site makes it really easy. But to each his own.

I was playing with the RR meal builder 2 weeks ago. It is neat how they account for everything like if you don't want pickles. I wish other restaurants would do the same.

That must be recent 'cause its been... I dont know... about a year ago? I saw a salad on their menut and found out through mfp on my phone app it was over 1,000 calories. When I asked the waiter if the restaurant had calories on menu (the app didnt have many then) he said he only knew there were lots of them (calories) on their food. Never went back.

It's a little easier in my area. There are local laws that require restaurants that fall into a certain category (I think it's if they have 10 more locations and one happens to be in this county), t to have nutrition information available if not in the menu.

It's on their web site, that doesn't mean it's on their menu or the waiter would know how many calories are in anything.

I can't finish a whole burger from there anyway so even if I don't customize it, it's within my calorie limit. Next time I think I'll leave off the bun, or at least eat just half of it.

That's what I usually do, I go to the restaurant's website and find out the cals and try to eat sensibly. When calories are just outrageous I just try to avoid the restaurant like cheesecake factory and PF changs to name a few.

Fair enough! You've convinced me that it's not too hard to accomplish.

I was actually surprised they didnt have the calories on menu because it had become a law here in PA too! I have seen most restaurants have them.

the nutrition info listed is hardly ever what you actually receive in a place like that. they will base the calories on a tablespoon of may as an example, but that 16 year old that is making your burger winds up putting on twice that amount.

treat places like Red Robin and other fast food joints as cheat meals. dont think you are eating healthy.

Trust me, I do. Not something I do all that often.

Dang! I need that law to come to Kansas. It would be great to know these things.
Wendy's has a "build your meal" counter too, FYI.

yeah I know one can only estimate... I'll have cheat meals on weekends, but frankly I just don't feel right eating a day's worth of calories in one plate. If the menu online or wherever admits to that amount I just plainly wont have it.
