Sooo ive been lucky enough to have been a stay at home mum for the last 5 months including my first 3 months of MFP which means i had great control over when and what i was eating...well 2 days back at work at i am struggling. Im a nurse and i work in a busy practice so im not guaranteed breaks if its busy....how do i bulk up my cals during working hours without resorting to the snack box?? (im allergic to nuts/cashews so those are out)
Any ideas would be great...thanks

I wouldn't be shy about adding some more fat to boost the cals and keep you feeling full. So perhaps some olive oil, feta cheese, olives or avocado. Maybe try to increase your meals by a 100/200 cals each or so if you know you don't have time to snack.
Good luck.0 -
maybe a milkshake or drink of some sort? Dried fruit perhaps?0

If you have a fridge in the break room, can you run in there real quick to grab something? Hard-boiled eggs, sliced lunch meat, celery with cream cheese are all things that you could nosh on quickly. Things that don't need refrigeration might be a small protein or granola bar, individually packaged cheese like Laughing Cow or string or cheddar (Tillamook makes yummy 1 oz. packets). Can you keep a drink handy? Maybe a glass of V-8? I love the new Fushion ones that combine fruits with the veggies.0

I hate the texture, but whey/soy/rice protein mixed in water can stay standing at room temperature all day and still be drinkable (with shaking, of course -- a bottle with a "blender whisk" ball in it helps a ton). And it's something that you can just sip on all day. I know lots of people on these boards don't mind protein in water though, and the flavors are usually very good. Plus, the protein is great for you.0

I'm a nurse also. I usually bring meal bars, baked chips, string cheese, fruit, etc. Things you can eat fast. I don't know if those are the best but I can snack on them when I have a second to sit down. And I usually bring frozen dinners. Easy to heat up and eat.0
