Positive feedback & Negative reaction

I started this change in lifestyle nearly two months ago after being shocked by the large numbers on the scale. Seeing that, I immediately committed to healthier food choices and getting 45-min workouts in 5 days a week. After 14 pounds lighter and 6 inches shedded off my waist, I've received both positive feedback and negative reactions. Just recently, a close friend (who hadn't seen me in awhile) approached me with, "Wow, you can tell your losing weight!" Hearing that, I felt really good and motivated to keep going. A few days later, I decided to visit a member of my family. She opens the door, stares at me from head to toe, takes a double shot from head to toe and walks away. Excited about my weightloss journey thus far, I ask her, "Can you tell I've lost weight?" She quickly responds, "No, it doesn't look like you lost anything. You still look the same to me." Hearing that, I felt a bit discouraged. But those words motivated me to not only keep going, but to push a little harder!

Don't worry I always get "Wow you've lost weight! - Don't lose anymore!!! " Really tough to hear on days i've gained, and really upsets me , I've worked hard and am in maintence but still not 100% happy until I tone up a bit.
It's like people are telling me NOT to be proud. sucks.
  • Thanks everyone. I felt I needed to vent that out. Nonetheless, I will continue to press forward harder, stronger, and not letting anything or anyone discourage me. I'm doing this for myself and to hopefully inspire others, including her. Mind you, she's at a good weight for her height.

Some people mean well and just come off as being rude sometimes... others just may be oblivious to how they actually are being. And some people are just plain mean! lol. I am very sensitive about certain things when it comes to my appearance and my weight. I've had several people tell me I'm getting too skinny - annoying and rude I think! One person told me my chest was too small. I almost smacked him. But there is a lot more positive than there is negative, and I just try to take what people say the best way I can. Most of what seems rude is really just people trying to compliment me or give me friendly advice anyway. :)
