What were the hardest things to cut back on?

A gorgeous glass of crisp white wine and cheese and crackers....I cant stop at one, so I have to give it up and only have it rarely, plus it hinders my weightloss0

Portion sizes for me. I love good, homemade food. What helped me was reading the book Mindless Eating which talks about ways to engineer your environment to work with your healthy lifestyle (using smaller plates, etc). I'm currently rereading it because I kind of fell off the wagon (didn't gain, just stopped losing because I'm not tracking well and eating more than I should).0

Anything sweet with lots of fat: chocolate, ice cream, cookies, cake, wine, sweet coffee, plus rice and chips0

Chocolate0

I never realized just how much i love deep fried food....i can deal with the no sweets but don't take away my deep fryer!!! hahaha0

my chai tea lattes which I stopped drinking after discoving how much sugar they had! as well as other fancy Starbucks-type drinks. Now I'd rather eat my calories than drink them, that's how I justify it. Also, just grabbing whatever I feel like, whenever and not worrying about the calorie/fat/sodium/sugar content! or when my hubby and I are watching a movie and he's eating Nibs, chocolate, popcorn, etc. right beside me and I'm snacking on an apple. That's hard.0

Instead of sweet soda drinks try flavoured water?.. I use Volvic Lemon and Lime when I got my monthlies and get sweet cravings.. its still water and lower cals than coke but is sweeter than plain water.
Chocolate - have you tried choc chip snack-a-jacks? . very chocolatey flavour for less calories!! .. or drinking chocolate? (the caramel snack-a-jacks taste and smell similar to Toffee popcorn too)
Try sweeter veg to snack on.. like carrot snacks with a hummus dip instead of chocolate and sweets.0 -
Going into this journey, I thought alcohol would be hard to cut back on. It has been way easier than I imagined. If I don't have any calories for a glass of wine, I don't have it.
I'm sure my liver thanks me as well. ;-)0 -
BREAD!!!!0

Spaghetti, I don't know what it is about it but I can never seem to just eat one portion :-/0

I grew up drinking wine (French Grandmother) and I thought that would be hard, but if I don't have the calories, I don't have a glass. The hardest for me was potatoes; I was seriously addicted to french fries and tater tots. I'm fussy about chocolate and not a sweet eater at all, but the tatties have been seriously hard to pass up.0

2 things I was addicted to : soda & potato chips.
I cut both out in March 2011, 4 months before I had gastric bypass surgery and it was the best thing I ever did. It was really tough at first. I had terrible cravings. The cravings eventually went away and I think I'm better off with water and snacks of raw veggies and fruit.0 -
anything that involves cheese and bread (which obviously includes pizza). Ice cream and sweets are a close second!
For people that love soda, try soda water. Not with artificial sweeteners (no sodium, no sugar, etc). Coconut flavored la croix is fantastic!0 -
Cheese and Booze. If I could give up cheese and booze - I would surely drop 30 lbs. That would be my magical answer... but... I would DIE without cheese and booze... all kinds of booze, too. I love ice cold beers on summer afternoons. Wine with dinner.. red, white, pink - whatever. Hot Cider and Brandy on cold winter evenings. Rum and Coke when I am out with friends. Cosmo when I just want to get straight to the point. Cheese on my eggs. Cheese on my sammiches. Cheese on my nachos. Cheesy soups. Cheesy dips. Cheese on my soft pretzels. Cheese on hard pretzels.
I totally have a problem.0 -
