Hi how is everybody doing? I started my diet Monday and thought it would be really difficult with the children on half term hols but Ive found it really easy! So far this half term Ive managed to drag my 3 children out every day for a walk, even during a rain storm! Wrapped them up warm in coats and boots they have had so much fun splashing in puddles, even my teenage son and it hasnt even felt like exercise for me either! They have complained but once we are all out it turns into an adventure and they are more than happy! Yesterday's walk was through the woods and I made it fun by turning it into a nature trail for them, picking leaves up, looking at trees and jumping through leaves! Once home they are so much better behaved after having some fresh air and some exercise, and Im much happier to have some extra calories for all that exercise too!

Food-wise, sometimes Its a little tricky trying to keep up the motivation with 3 children who are constantly raiding the fridge though! Once the children go back to school next week I will be fitting in some running and much faster paced walking!!!

  • You are off to a wonderful start!!!! My kids are 5 and 2 and I usually hop on the treadmill after they go to bed or my husband watches them while I exercise and vice versa. I'm lucky that they go to bed early. :) What a great idea for a nature walk. Love it! We usually go on long family walks on the weekends.
  • I have 5 boys, I normally walk on my treadmill at home while they are at school, but some days i take them to the track at the school. They love it. They bring a football and have a ball. I meet up with some of my friends and their children. It is the coolest thing ever. I just can't always make it out the house due to so much that goes on.

Good for you. Sounds like you have had a fun week. We usually go on long walks on the weekend together. When the kids were out of school during the summer I rode bikes, swam and walked daily with the kids. My youngest daughter started looking forward to our walks and asked after she went back to school if we could start doing our walks just me and her in the evening. It turned out to be a great bonding time. I try to get in other exercise , the gym and dvds while she is at school. Lately it has been harder to get our nightly walk in because it is starting to get dark earlier. Keep up the good work, and I diffinately find it easier to stick with it food wise when the kids are at school and I dont have to fix lunch for them and have them ask for snacks all day long.......

Thanks everyone! Its just nice to do something with all the family, nice having that bit of quality time. Quality time in the past would have been watching a DVD (and not interacting!) and eating chocolate!!! My children are 7, 10 and 13, my 13 yr old son goes to bed an hour before me so its difficult to get that bit of "alone" time!! I dont exercise much at home, I think I need fresh air to kick start me!...although I do have a punchbag in my summer house which I find great for de stressing! Im not sure how many calories it uses up but its great fun!!! Good luck everybody and lovely to "meet" you all!!!
  • i have two girls..i have am workouts at 6a mon-fr and saturday they workout with me :). If i didnt workout at home i think it would be harder
