Hello,
Question, do you burn calories when lifting weights? I usually turn my HRM off when I start lifting because I'm not doing cardio. Is this best?

Yes, if you lift heavy, you will burn quite a bit of calories, although not as much as cardio. But don't lift weights to burn calories, lift weights to get stronger and maintain your muscle mass while you're losing weight.0

Yes you do burn calories. Many believe that resistance training is a better fat burner than cardio itself. personally I prefer to burn calories through a tough high intensity weight training workout over cardio for calories. But I still get my run in.
Keep your HRM on, work at 70-75% strength (Muscle failure 10-13th rep) and keep your rest to about 90 seconds. Your HRM will be in the zone.0 -
What ^^ they said.
I run 3-4x week (two easy runs, one longer run, one interval training) and lift 3x week. It's what works for me! Mix it up!0 -
Thank you all so much!0
