Starting the gym again

So a few months back I burnt myself out at the gym. I was working out so much I had no energy and then I got sick and was down for the count for days. I got discouraged and I put all the weight back on plus some :(. Now I have been back on the weight loss wagon for several months and I have been losing about a pound a week with diet and just a walk a few times a week. Now that I am nearly at the 20 lb mark I have a whole lot of motivation to ramp it up. I have a tendency to throw in all or nothing.

Heading back to the gym today and going to try to keep it more reasonable. I can't go to work, be a mom, be a girlfriend, clean the house, take care of a puppy AND spend 2 hours at the gym. I just didn't have energy left after the gym and still had so much to do!I am really excited to start again and this time try to do it while keeping in mind that I am not just a workout machine. LOL I am planning on doing 30 minutes on the elliptical after work and some leg strength workouts, tomorrow the same but with upper body. I think I can do this and still do what I need to for my life. I just need to not let myself push to an hour and a half of cardio in the next couple of weeks. I am not 20 anymore and I am a lot heavier and been a lot more sedentary than I was then!

Anyone have any pointers for someone who doesn't know exactly how much I should be doing to begin with?

  • Just listen to your body and don't push too hard in the first week. See how you feel after the first day and adjust from there.

    Enjoy!
