Eating Abroad / While Traveling

I am traveling way more than I expected this year. Some of the places I've been going (Mexico, South Africa, Philippines, Argentina) require a lot of research before I can eat. One thing I've been doing is purposely eating 1/2 of what is brought to me, if I haven't had a chance to check the calories... if I'm under, can always make it up later. The other thing is to pick up my work out routine (most hotels have a gym... which I was clueless too before deciding not to be so fat haha) to offset any mistakes I might make.

Do you have any other tips for eating while traveling?

Traveling abroad is always a bit of throwing the dice. Here are some thoughts...and by the by, do chat it up with your doctor, as I've been fortunate not to come back with anything.

    Flying
    1. When flying, ask for the healthy, vegetarian, or kosher meals

    Restaurants:
    1. Confirm if oil or lard is used for cooking
    2. Always...always use bottled water
    3. Stay clear of ice, ice cones, etc.
    4. In some countries, you need to ask if they use running water to clean your salad

I prefer eating at known restaurant chains, or at the hotel - especially if I have to present or speak the next day. I like eating local...but only by personal reference by an assigned sponsor or fellow employee, or concierge, that has a history of dining success.

Purchase snack packets in country to help, and you should be good to go! Cheers! :drinker:
