Hello, just wondering if anyone can offer any advice on the amount of sugar they have in a day. Mine is set to 26g and I am really struggling with it.:ohwell: I don't eat sweets and sweet snacks and don't drink sugary drinks but the kind of foods I have been eating for lunch (mug shot, cup a soup kind of things) seem to have a lot of sugar in. Does anyone have any advice on low sugar easy meals for lunch at work?

Hope you can help :)

I'd say make your own soup – that way you control what's in it. Do a big batch on the weekend and freeze it, if time is tight :o)

Anything like those which come out of a packet are going to be crammed full of stuff. Have you checked your sodium too as they are huge culprits for it!

Have you tried making your own? Homemade foods, so that you can control what goes in are always going to be better.

Can you make a pot of chicken noodle soup and take it in and reheat? or leek and potato? or tomato? or..mmm soup. Sorry :embarassed:

I would just try and steer clear of convenience foods as best you can xx
  • Thank you, I think I will give the soup making a go. It's easy sometimes to be lazy and grab something that says 1% fat but then when you look at the things that make up for the fat it can be worse! Homemade tomato sounds good, I shall give it a bash! Thnaks :) x

Why must you only consume 26g per day?

I am wondering because there is lots of sugar in fruit and other prepared foods. I think as long as you stay away from candy and sugared drinks like soda and energy drinks, you will be fine. Overall calories make the difference.

Also try pea soup maybe? I love it. If you use one of those knorr stock pots, add some herbs, it's delicious. Add ham too if you want. It's filling and healthy.

What's so special about candy and soda that makes them evil, but sugar added to pre-packaged soup is fine?
  • The 26g is what is recommended on my MFP plan so I try not to go too over that. A lot of the sugar I have comes from fruit and natural sugar but some does come from convenience soups.

I think making my own soup is the way forward!

Thanks for all your advice :)
