Hi, yeah I like road and MTB. I have a specialised mtb and giant tcr aero RB. Im interested in triathlon I've done a sprint tri but my other half does iron man so I'll happily go out and cycle with him, 60 miles, 25 mile time trials etc.0

Love to bike...just need more motivation to go. I do triathlons and road cycling, and just bought a mountain bike! I hope to be able to at least go around the neighborhood with the bike instead of my car.0

I, like you, have developed a real love of cycling, just this past spring/summer. I bought a road bike and get on it as much as possible. I have ridden around 700 miles this season and have a goal of doing the RAGBRAI ride across Iowa next summer.0

Got on a bike for the first time in 25 years when my car died 2 months ago! Borrowed an old ladies 3 speed and hoping to get a slightly newer bike soon for myself as I discovered I actually quite enjoy it (now my bum has come back to life!!) Pedalling slowly but can manage 5-7 miles a day no problem now. It's a miracle!!0

Yep. My wife and I have gotten into it in the past year or two. Plus I now have sons who are racing. I could never have dropped my weight without the bike. I rode about 2700 miles this year. Now we are starting to plan vacations around places where the riding is good. It is basically taking over our recreational life. All good. I tell people I didn't "lose" my weight. I just left it out on the road. There is nothing better than a great ride. Well, almost...0

Got the bug for it this year and like rjl2493 it's rearly helped with my weight loss.
I cycle to work every day (25 miles return) and do about 50-60 miles for pleasure at weekends.
Just joint a club which makes it even more fun and a great social activity.
Cant recommend it highly enough - I think cycling will finally help overcome my yo-yo weight loss/weight gain I have experienced over the years.
Get a bike!!!0 -
I just started to really enjoy cycling over the summer. I started doing triathlons last year and I used to see it as that thing I had to do between the swimming and running... Then this summer I decided I wanted to get better at it, so I had to do it more and somewhere along the way it got more fun I got a "new to me" triathlon bike and I couldn't believe the difference that made in my speed and just the ease of riding it. Unfortunately it's getting colder where I live so I won't be able to ride outside much longer....guess I'm going to have to get a trainer0

I ride about 10 miles a week, give or take.
I HATE CYCLING!!!
Ok, I guess I can't fool anyone with my profile pic. cyling is one thing that gives me a great workout, clears my mind, and lets me spend time with my friens, all i one. Plus it is just plain exillerating!0 -
<<<<<I love to ride. Recently took up mountain bike. Got a great deal on an MTB!! Just love being outdoors rain or shine on the open road. Did the Seattle to Portland bike ride in July....fantastic I never regret going for a bike ride.0

Avid cycler here! I started out in the triathlon world with lots of road cycling with some mtn riding here and there to fill in gaps. But this last year, I have been primarily a mtn bike rider and managed a couple of off-road tris and mountain bike races. My goal is to continue to ride the mtn bike outside all winter (in Chicago) instead of moving all of my rides indoors to the trainer.0

I've cycled on/off since highschool. I've never ridden in any organized rides, but frequently do 30 to 60 mile rides. I love how you can just get on and go.
My first 'long' ride was when I lived in L.A. I found the bike path that lead from South Central to Marina Del Rey. I think it was about 20mi round trip. I remember how hard it was to get back home. I just kept looking in the distance at landmarks thinking I just have to get there; just a little more. It never occured to me to stop or call for a ride. I just kept going.
It's been like that ever since. I set a cycling goal, and I just keep going. Love it.
I set up a personal challenge each month on here. Just a basic goal for each individual. Some MFP cyclists are really hard core. Awesome group of friends to have.0 -
I would go crazy without my bike! With fall temps, I have moved the bike indoors till next spring but it just does not have the same feel as being out on the road. I have also started with spin class and that has helped me to pick up my pace!
I have ridden about 3500 miles this year. Crossed RAGBRAI off the bucket list....I had done partials in the past but this was the first time I had went from river to river! One of the coolest rides you can every try.0 -
I regularly timetrial 10,25,50's. Lookin at a couple of 100's next year along with a 12 hour, feel free to add me.0

Me!! I started in February, bought my first road bike in March and just rolled over 1,000 miles last weekend! My goal is to be able to to a 100 mile ride (The Hotter Than Hell 100) next year. Feel free to add me!0

When I grow up I want to be a cyclist. I only got 1250 miles in last year and this year 3700 miles. Someday I will get to the 10k per year.0

When my family doesn't rely on me so much, I'll be there. I have an old specialized mountain bike I bought in 1994.... No shocks, time to upgrade ;-)
The feeling when I do ride is indescribable0 -
I like too ride, and have made time for it this year. I'm going to pass 3000 miles for the year, on Sunday or Monday. I'm still 150 pounds overweight, so it takes a lot of work.
Next year, I'm aiming for 5000 miles. I hope to ride the Mississippi river from the Gulf all the way up to the headwaters in Minnesota, and I also hope to ride the Highway(s) 101 and 1 down the Pacific coast.
Big goals for big people, I guess…
The MFP people really help keep me motivated to keep going...0 -
I do as much as possible. I have been riding for a while now. have any one experience a big weight gain 3to 5 pounds the day after your longer rides like 30+ miles?0

I love riding. I have a Giant hybrid. I love getting out on the road and just pumping the pedals. I thought it was all going to end when I was diagnosed with vertigo a couple of weeks ago, but I am pretty good in the early mornings so have started heading out then instead of later in the day.0

hi there. I've recently started cycling and found it extremely fun and rewarding. I started of on a mountain bike that I was given from my boss. cleaned it up, took it out for a spin and nearly died( slight exaggeration ) I knew I was a chunk but thought I was pretty fit. ( how wrong I was) see the job I do is very active with tight deadlines, stressful and inconvenient times.( I'm a all round builder) a week had passed and I finally recovered I knew it was time to shift the chunky body. I went out that weekend and blew my savings on a new road bike, got the full kit, helmet so on. did some research and found my fitness pal( you would not believe my daily calorie intake 10000+ I know o was a big lad
well the journey began. it started with 1960 cal per day, first few weeks impossible but still the weight came off. then came back the bike. after playing around with my fitness pal I discovers what cal you burn you get back. I was so hungry I gave it a go and I've been on the bike as much as poss. I'm now down to 14.5 stone approx in about 3 months with an average of 90 miles aweek. the question is do I feel better "Dam right"0
