Achilles tendon popping.....

As with anything I did a Google search on this and didn't really get any helpful information. For about 3 weeks, maybe 4, my Achilles tendon has been popping and causing pain when I work out. So, I started wrapping it with an ace bandage, which helped initially, for a couple of weeks, then it started doing it when I wasn't working out, so I wrapped it then also on those days. A couple of days ago I decided to exercise without it wrapped and now it is popping, and causing pain, every time I put my food down during exercise, or just walking around.

Has anyone had this happen? Is it something that will go away if I let it rest? Could it be a partial tear? (I saw a full tear is debilitating). I don't want to quit exercising because I'm on a roll lol, but it should feel like this.

Thanks for any and all advice that you can give me.

Go and see an orthopedist to determine if the tendon is in jeopardy. Popping usually means it's probably the tendon "jumping" over a bone in your foot. If it hurts than that's a sign of inflammation.
  • Go see your Doctor ASAP!!! You really don't want to experience the pain when your achilles tears in two. Trust me it's beyond pain!!!!!

I had some problems with my achilles tendon last year.....it originated from wearing high heels shoes all day and coming home and running/jogging without proper before and after stretching. The doctor and therapist said to use plenty of ice and REST. But I agree.....the "popping" may be the tendon flipping from one side of your bone to the other....I would get that checked to see exactly what you're starting out with.......DO NOT keep exercising......the pain will only get worse and could move from temporary to permanent if not addressed.....good luck!
